Birds of Tokyo
It’s no secret that the landscape of Birds of Tokyo’s home of Western Australia; a desert-like state so vast and unforgiving that to provide it with a soundtrack requires a higher level of grandeur and majesty one would ever dare associate with the ‘pop’ music tag. But, down to its bones, pop music is what Birds of Tokyo write… they just layer those bones in muscle, and give the beast a heart.
Mother Eel
Mother Eel is a metal four piece that formed, firstly as a three piece, in 2004 in the Cold, Dark and Evil, Blue Mountains Australia. The sound has been described as one being gang raped by clowns on smack. They have been well received by audiences with mixed musical tastes and have therefore played at a variety of venues including: Candy's Apartment, Club 77, UWS Kingswood (including the Saturate Festival), The Sandringham Hotel, The Fitzroy Hotel (Windsor), The Oriental Hotel, The Lansdowne, Above the Spanish, The Mandarin Club and The Gearins Hotel.
Urthboy
Urthboy is an Australian MC, hailing from the Blue Mountains of New South Wales. He started out in the late 90s with the live hip-hop group Explanetary, alongside fellow MC Realistix, Elgusto (drums) and Luke Dubs (keys). The latter two went on to form Hermitude. He quickly became involved with the fledgling Elefant Traks label, as well as becoming a founding member of The Herd. Currently a director and label manager of Elefant Traks, Urthboy oversees much of the daily operations of the label, from A&R work to promotions, media and accounts.
Jen Cloher
Jen Cloher & The Endless Sea released their critically acclaimed ARIA nominated album Dead Wood Falls in 2006. Asleep In The Light
Asleep in the Light was formed in 2010 when members Nico (vocals) and Jolan (Guitar) had the idea to start a band. The music then started coming together as Monty (Bass) and Tim (Drums) were added to the band. Paul (Guitar) was the last member to complete the 5-piece band preparing the way for shows in 2011. Asleep in the Light will be planning on releasing their highly anticipated EP in 2011. Look out for a show near you soon and be sure to come say hi.
Black Majesty
There are several bands sharing the name Black Majesty. A melodic power metal band from Melbourne, Australia. So far they have released four LPs; 'Sands of Time' (2003), 'Silent Company' (2005), 'Tomorrowland' (2007) and "In Your Honour (2010). The band was formed in 2001 under the name Kymera and with various members already well known on the local metal and heavy rock scene. Guitarist Steve Janevski was drawn from Cyclone Tracy, a long-running heavy rock/hair metal outfit.
