Alarum

Alarum is a four piece technical fusion-metal band from Melbourne, Australia. They combine influences of death metal, progressive metal, jazz, and thrash.
They are stylistically quite similar to early-90's pioneers Atheist and Cynic. They are also known to play Death covers in live shows -- another band which influences them greatly. Alarum are currently working on their third album, Natural Causes set for release in early 2010.

Despised Icon

Despised Icon was a Canadian deathcore band from Montreal, Quebec, formed in 2002. The band is noted for the use of two vocalists; Alexandre Erian, takes use of a mid-range screaming technique, and Steve Marois for the low growling vocals, and high pitched screamed vocals. Despised Icon is known for its work in the underground music industry and have been considered one of the founders of the deathcore genre. In April 2010 the band announced that they will be disbanding.

Unearthly

There are 2 or 3 bands that share this name: #1. One of the most notorious black metal bands hailing from Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Unearthly was established by the end of 1998, with M. Mictian on bass and Lord Thoth on guitars and vocals.
Their first demo, "Blessed are the Destroyers of False Hope", was released in june 2000, and the second one, "Living Under the Sign of Blasphemy" was launched a little over one year afterwards in august 2001. Both works had good acceptance within the scene and received good reviews, which guaranteed them many concerts in their native country.

Meshuggah

Meshuggah, whose name is taken from the Hebrew and Yiddish word for “crazy”, is a five-piece band from Umeå, Sweden, founded in 1987. The band's style is most easily described as extreme/technical metal with some jazz influence. They use extended polymetric passages, complex drum patterns, angular, dissonant guitar riffs, and harsh vocals. Their lineup has always been consistent, apart from bass which has been handled by many people since the band’s inception.

Ghosts Over Japan

Originally under the name Hysterias Canvas back in mid 07' as a 4 piece, the band were quick to write a 4 track after their first live show played in Mackay. With the main influence being hardcore and metalcore the 4 track Demo was well recieved and sold out within the month. With the addition of Jason-Dean on guitar, the bands sound was now moreso capable of creating deeper sounds and heavier riffs which naturally progressed the groups sound and maturity towards music writing.

Darkest Hour

Darkest Hour is a melodic death metal/metalcore band currently signed to E1 Music. The band is officially based in Washington, DC, but several of the members live in Richmond, Virginia. Their sound is akin to classic European metal acts such as At the Gates and In Flames, but it is noted for the incorporation of elements of punk and hardcore music. Over the years they have toured with many influential acts, including The Crown, ZAO, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Thrice, and Soilwork. They also played 2004's Ozzfest.

Gojira

1) Gojira is a progressive death metal band from Bayonne, France. Their lyrics focus on life, ecology, and spiritual themes. They were formed in 1996 by brothers Joe Duplantier (vocals and lead guitar) and Mario Duplantier (drums), Christian Andreu (guitar) and Jean-Michel Labadie (bass guitar). They had initially named their group Godzilla, but due to legal constraints had to change their name. They therefore chose to re-name their band Gojira - the original Japanese version of their name (in Japanese Gojira means gorilla-whale or gorilla the size of a whale).
