The Scandal

THE SCANDAL is a three-piece progressive punk band from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. The band is comprised of Nic White, Mat Cocks, and Liam White. 2009 sees THE SCANDAL issue its first vinyl release, the Edges / Seasickness 7". The double-A sided EP sees the band exploring more weighty, measured material. Making a feature of the overlapping and intertwining vocals of all three members, the new songs bring an intensity born of restraint, showcasing just three instruments played rythmically and relentlessly.

Artist Type:

Rainman

There are at least two artists with the name Rainman: 1. Rainman is the name of a soloproject by Frank Nuyens, a former member of the Dutch group Q' 65. He recorded the album 'Rainman' in 1971, a collection of songs influenced by British folkrock and songwriters from the American Westcoast. 2. For years, Rainman has been building serious skills on mic and decks alike, cementing his presence within the Brisbane and Sydney hip-hop scenes.

Artist Type:

Jeff Lang

Singer-songwriter Jeff Lang has built up a reputation for startlingly original performances, working without a set list, allowing the unique energy of each night to shape the songs. While Lang will talk of his admiration for the elemental blues of Skip James, the raw gospel of Blind Willie Johnson, the devastating guitar work of Jimi Hendrix, the masterful slide guitar of Ry Cooder, and the sublime songwriting of Bob Dylan and Richard Thompson, comparisons to these artists fails to paint an adequate picture.

Dirty Three

Violinist Warren Ellis, guitarist Mick Turner, and drummer Jim White are Dirty Three - an instrumental experimental rock 'n' rock/folk trio considered one of the most prestigious Australian acts. In their beginnings, in Melbourne, Australia, in 1993, the trio played very often and had residences at some of Melbourne's smaller pubs. In the years that followed, they played other Australian cities, and toured relentlessly overseas. Now since the three live apart from each other in Paris, Melbourne, and New York, they only occasionally regroup to record and tour.

Steve Forde

Steve Forde was born in the regional farming centre of Cowra in 1977. His parents were battlers with a dream of one day rising from the dust and hard work they endured to owning their own property and sinking deep, long-lasting roots. It was to this end that young Steve spent most of his early childhood moving from town to town across NSW with his family. Where there was good work to be had, that's where the family would go. It was in these early years that simple life philosophies were deeply ingrained into this young man.
