Regular John guitarist Brock Tengstrom remembers one family gathering where he was primed to meet his cousin’s boyfriend: “He’s in a band,” Tengstrom’s folks told him. Turns out the weird skinny guy with big sunglasses and black fingernails was Grinspoon frontman Phil Jamieson, pre-Guide to Better Living. “He gave me a copy of that Green EP,” recalls Tengstrom, “and I taught him how to play a few Nirvana songs.”
Social Distortion (often known as Social D) are an American punk rock band, formed in 1978 in Fullerton, Orange County, California by frontman Mike Ness. They are, along with many others, often credited as one of the leading bands of the 1980s punk revival. The band has remained silent three times and once broke up in 1985, due to seperate interests. However, they reformed around 1987 and have continued being active today, especially after longtime guitarist Dennis Danell passed away from an apparent brain aneurysm in 2000.
Russell Morris (born July 1948) is an Australian singer-songwriter, who had many Australian Number 1 singles throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s. His most successful song was The Real Thing, written by Johnny Young, and produced by Ian Meldrum. It was the biggest selling Australian Single of 1969, and was released when Morris was 20 years old. The song was released in two halves on a small label in the United States of America and received limited international success as a result, although it did reach #1 in large cities such as Chicago.
Glasvegas are an alternative/shoegazing band which formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 2003, the band is composed of James Allan (vocals, rhythm guitar), Rab Allan (lead guitar), Paul Donoghue (bass guitar) and Jonna Löfgren (drums). Caroline McKay (drums) left the band in March 2010 and was replaced by Lofgren later that year. Their music is influenced by artists such as Wall of Sound producer Phil Spector and other, more recent, bands which share that same aesthetic such as My Bloody Valentine and The Jesus and Mary Chain.
It seems as if this band entry regards to three bands. First one is a Canadian Band named Complete. They are from Vancouver, BC, Canada and were formed in 1999 as a punk/hardcore band in Vancouver. Avenged Sevenfold is a band from Huntington Beach, California, United States. They started out as a metalcore band, but have since moved towards hard rock. The band was formed in 1999. Avenged Sevenfold's first album, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, was recorded when the band members were eighteen years old. It was originally released on their first label, Good Life Recordings. After lead guitarist Synyster Gates (also known by Brian Haner Jr.) joined the band, the introductory track "To End The Rapture" was re-recorded with Gates playing, and the album was re-released on Hopeless Records.
David A. Stewart is most renown as a member of the succesfull 80's pop duo Eurythmics, together with Annie Lennox. The duo split in the early 1990s and reunited for one album, Peace, and subsequent tour in 1999, as well as for two bonus tracks for the greatest hits compilation Ultimate Collection in 2005.
Even before the Eurythmics split, Stewart worked as a producer and writer with other artists; this work yielded the hit singles Don't Come Around Here No More by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and Lily Was Here by Dutch saxophonist Candy Dulfer.
A Floridian of Cuban descent, Raul Malo started playing bass guitar while in high school and was a member of a small band playing the high school dance circuit. That band was known alternately as The Boys, The Tom Boys, and The Basics with Malo sharing vocal duties with guitarist, Tommy Anthony. In 1990, he became the vocalist for the four-man band, The Mavericks, for whom he penned most of the songs.
