The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble is an instrumental group comprised of 8 horn players and a drummer, all but one of whom are sons of jazz musician Kelan Phil Cohran (who played trumpet in Sun Ra Arkestra). Chic (pron. IPA: /ˈʃiːk/, sometimes fully capitalized as CHIC) is an american disco and funk band that was formed in 1976 by guitarist Nile Rodgers and bassist Bernard Edwards. It is best-known for its commercially successful disco songs, including "Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah)" (1977), "Everybody Dance" (1977), "Le Freak" (1978), "I Want Your Love" (1978), "Good Times" (1979), and "My Forbidden Lover" (1979).

Watching Paris Wells in her support slot at Robyn's recent Melbourne show was a joy. While most artists in her position would use such a slot as an opportunity to air as much of their own music as possible, Wells seemed to understand that no one was particularly interested in a half-hour of previously unheard music from an unknown artist. Instead, she spent the better part of her set dropping party-starting covers of recent and classic R&B hits. By the time she got around to singing her debut single, Dat Du Dat, she had the crowd in the palm of her hand.

Allen Toussaint (born January 14, 1938) is an American musician, songwriter and record producer and one of the most influential figures in New Orleans R&B who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. In the 1960s and 1970s, he was a prolific writer, producer and arranger, creating numerous hits for a variety of artists including Lee Dorsey, Robert Palmer, The Showmen, The Meters, Betty Wright, Solomon Burke and Willie West. He produced material for Dr John, LaBelle, Chocolate Milk and Aaron Neville amongst many more.
