Baths

For mercurial Los Angeles music-maker Will Wiesenfeld, Baths has been a long time coming. The 21-year-old has spent the better part of his days living amidst “pleasant” and “unremarkable” in the suburbs of the San Fernando Valley, so perhaps it’s due to a general lack of local inspiration that Wiesenfeld’s own work has never fit into a prefab box of its own. Over the last six years, under the handle of [Post-Foetus], Wiesenfeld has gainfully explored the intersections and outer reaches of both electronic and acoustic music.

Artist Type:

Yolke

Over time the 4-piece psych/ambient unit Yolke have swum between bittersweet confusion and thick lucid sonics, and crackled forward their 2010 debut EP Poppy Wash, which not so much leaves their conception behind, but instead stows it in the subconscious.
Formed while field researching sound in Melbourne early 2008, they began playing live in October of the same year, and have since dotted many nights with technocolour soundscapes and phosphorous encrusted beats.

Seaworthy

Seaworthy, a three piece collectivefrom Sydney, Australia that primarily revolves around core member Cameron Webb as well as Sam Shinazzi and Greg Bird, was formed in early 2000 to explore melodic and experimental approaches to the construction (and unravelling) of minimalist sound scapes from looped guitar, warm drones, piano, electronics and field recordings. The compositions often blur the lines of conventional categorisation with elements traditionally considered part of “indie” or “post” rock blended with processed musical and field recordings usually associated with electronic artists.

Max Waves

Check out the new album "Music for Microworlds"! Born in Treviso in March 1969, at the age of six Max Waves started studying the piano through private lessons, before entering the conservatory "B. Marcello" in Venezia in 1980.
A lifelong passion for computers and technology in general soon led him to prefer the study of the synthesizer rather than classical exercises to the point where he inevitably abandoned his academic studies and dedicated himself totally to electronic music.

Spokes

Spokes are an alt-indie band based in Manchester, UK. Brought together in 2006 by a combination of boyhood friendships, family ties and a relentless love of recording and touring. In 2007 they recorded their debut EP People Like People Like You which combined their folk inflected indie with more flowing structures influenced by post-rock and classical music.

Rosetta

Philadelphia quartet Rosetta push the boundaries between metal, progressive rock, post-rock, space rock, and hardcore punk, employing an experimental songwriting technique filled with chaos and atmospherics. Their sounds range from Pink Floydian / progressive rock sonic layering to walls of pure static ambience to crushing, sweeping sludgey riffage. Their first album (The Galilean Satellites, 2005) was an especially ambitious project: the goal was to record two discs of equal length (one a metal album...

Sophie Hutchings

Sophie Hutchings is Australian pianist and composer. Having begun playing piano young growing up in a musical family, Sophie started writing properly in her teens. Sophie’s compositions move from disarmingly spare and elegant beginnings to curl out with a tingling edge, propelling its austerity into urgent and epic realms. Violin, cello, drums, percussion and organ heighten the flight these pieces can take as well as dip and swell within the more dimly lit moods of gentler nuance, casting a particular spell across the range of feeling captured in Sophie’s playing.

Jónsi

There is more than one artist with this name: 1) Jón Þór Birgisson, aka Jónsi, is the guitarist and vocalist for the Icelandic band Sigur Rós. He is universally known for his soft inimitable falsetto voice. He has also released an album as one half of Jónsi & Alex with his boyfriend Alex Somers, formerly of the band Parachutes. Jónsi's solo album, Go, was released on April 6th 2010. In his solo venture Jónsi departs from the ethereal, dreamy landscapes present in Sigur Rós' music and instead concentrates on shorter, more instant 'portrait' tunes.
