As Tall as Lions

After coming off the road in mid-2005, following months of touring in support of their Triple Crown debut, Lafcadio, from Long Island, New York, United States the band As Tall As Lions – vocalist/guitarist Daniel Nigro, guitarist Saen Fitzgerald, bassist Julio Tavarez and drummer Cliff Sarcona – spent more than half a year channeling their energies into crafting an album that would not only realize the lofty ambitions of these four young men but define them as a band, once and for all.

Harris' music is a mixture of softly-strummed guitar, Wurlitzer keys, and her delicate, dreamy vocals, all of which are heavily drenched in reverb. Harris’ first album was 2005’s Grouper, a self-released full-length CD-R, followed later that year by Way Their Crept on Free Porcupine (re-released in 2007 on Type Records). Artist Type:

Julianna Barwick

Louisiana-bred, Brooklyn-based recording artist Julianna Barwick crafts ethereal, largely wordless soundscapes, all of which are built around multiple loops and layers of her angelic voice. Barwick, who credits a rural, church choir upbringing for her unique sound, begins most tracks with a single phrase or refrain, then uses a loop station and the occasional piano or percussive instrument to build the song into a swirling mass of lush, ambient folk.

Oxen

Oxen is one of the creations of Grzech Piotrowski – a Polish jazz saxophonist. A more renowned idea of Piotrowski is Alchemik, a group already well-established on the Polish jazz scene. Still, between Alchemik and Oxen much similarity cannot be found. In Oxen Piotrowski plays with his friends musicians – Marcin Masecki (piano), Darek Krupa (guitar), Piotr Zaczek (bass), Michal Dabrowka and Grzegorz Grzyb (drums).
