Zond

Zond are a maximum volume, minimalist soundrock group based in Melbourne, Australia. They are named after a member of the group's childhood dog and/or a Hi-God People track and/or satellite of the USSR. Their live shows and recordings vary from screaming psych punk car crashes to ambient alloy radiation field hum: all that can be known in advance is the intensity of the performance. Zond includes members of past and present groups: Fong, Library Punks, On, Mum Smokes, Ned & the Meds, Wasted Truth.

Underground Lovers

Underground Lovers were an Australian alternative rock band. Although their commercial success was minimal at best, they were a much-lauded act in the country's alternative scene throughout the 1990's. While the band has experienced many lineup changes during its existence, the nucleus of the band since its inception has been Vincent M. Giarrusso (vocals, guitar, keyboard) and Glenn Bennie (guitar).

The Domino State

"The Domino State make brooding, intense music that knocks spots off much of the competition". Class of 2008 - Indie acts to hit the big-time over next 12 months." The Independent "In heart-in-lungs showstopper ’Iron Mask’, The Domino State have got one of the singles of the year...everyone should be falling over themselves to go see ’em…" The Fly "When we say that The Domino State really could join that list of life changing important bands its really not a case of PR hyperbole but a statement of fact.

Do The Robot

"April 2008. Our first full-length record is about to be released on valve records. There is excitement and anticipation for something that we are already so distant from. The recording process for "Amp on fire" was long and tedious and drawn out for almost a year. What as to be originally an EP turned into 2 EPs then to an album, cut and pasted together the best we could to minimise the long periods of time between recording each part of the record...

Yolke

Over time the 4-piece psych/ambient unit Yolke have swum between bittersweet confusion and thick lucid sonics, and crackled forward their 2010 debut EP Poppy Wash, which not so much leaves their conception behind, but instead stows it in the subconscious.
Formed while field researching sound in Melbourne early 2008, they began playing live in October of the same year, and have since dotted many nights with technocolour soundscapes and phosphorous encrusted beats.

Grouper

Grouper is the solo project for ambient musician Liz Harris, of Portland, Oregon. Harris' music is a mixture of softly-strummed guitar, Wurlitzer keys, and her delicate, dreamy vocals, all of which are heavily drenched in reverb. Harris’ first album was 2005’s Grouper, a self-released full-length CD-R, followed later that year by Way Their Crept on Free Porcupine (re-released in 2007 on Type Records). Other recordings include 2006's He Knows, released as a 3" CD, the 12" Weird Forest release Wide in 2007, and a 7" called Tried.

Auxilla

"They say Auxilla have cut the power before, and I’m surprised it didn’t happen again. There was so much sound and energy pumping off the stage, not to mention the seizurematic light show by Tomass Begg. To really enjoy Auxilla, you need to be ready for anything. From the gentle opening of the 6 on the Street doco, we were pulled into anything from frantic dance, to dirty distorted grunge, to the strange addition of punk.
