For fans of Neurosis, Isis, Cult of Luna, Jesu, Godflesh, Deftones, Gojira, Meshuggah, Tool. "Formed in spring 2009 by Rory Vallely (guitars, ex I Remain), Al Shelley (drums, ex The Magpyes), and Darren Jones (guitars), the main goal was simply to write music that was quite stripped out.

Bear in Heaven

Bear in Heaven is a Brooklyn-based rock band formed by Jon Philpot. The sound of the band incorporates influences from psychedelic music, electronic music and krautrock Jon Philpot has previously released music as part of the duo Presocratics, in collaboration with guitarist and composer Need Thomas Windham. Presocratics released two albums on the record label Table of the Elements in 2001; both were produced by Philpot.

Caspian

There are two artists with the name Caspian: 1. Caspian is an American instrumental rock band from Beverly, Massachusetts. The band formed in Autumn of 2003 and played their first concert in August of 2004. After releasing their debut EP You Are The Conductor (Dopamine, 2005) in late 2005, the band spent most of 2006 touring The United States and Canada and writing their debut full-length record The Four Trees (Dopamine, 2007). 65daysofstatic began in Sheffield, United Kingdom in 2001 as Iain Armstrong, Paul Wolinski and Joe Shrewsbury. Contrary to popular belief, they did not originally form to try to write music to fit the unreleased and little known John Carpenter film, 'Stealth Bomber' (starring Kurt Russell). Instead, they took their name from the 1954 CIA-backed coup d'etat in Guatemala. There, the CIA disabled Guatemalan communication systems while spreading propaganda, leading to the overthrow of the government.

Menomena

Menomena are an experimental rock band from Portland, Oregon, made up of Brent Knopf on guitar, keyboards, and glockenspiel; Justin Harris on bass, guitar, baritone sax and alto sax; and Danny Seim on percussion. All members of the band share singing duties. The band formed in late 2000, when Knopf graduated from Dartmouth College and returned to Portland to collaborate with Harris and Seim. They played their first show in July 2001, at The Meow Meow, a now-defunct all ages venue in Portland.

The Paper and The Plane

The Paper And The Plane are a band from Brisbane, Australia. The band is the result of (now defunct) post hardcore band Asleep at the Scene, merging with solo artist Dan van Zuthpen of chalkandcheese - formerly Nice Guys Finish - in 2006. The name of the group originated from a line in the song ‘A Letter’ by emo/indie band Mineral. Their sound is quite liberally referred to as ‘post-everything’ due to its distinctively hybrid style and vast influences such as Moneen, Mono and Planes Mistaken for Stars.

Charge Group

Sydney band Charge Group formed around 2005 and currently comprises three members of the now-defunct Newcastle outfit Purplene - vocalist/guitarist Matt Blackman (also of Tucker Bs), bassist Adam Jesson (The Instant), and drummer Matt Rossetti (The Instant). The fourth member is violinist/vocalist Jason Tampake (Firekites, Josh Pyke band), also originally from Newcastle.

Charge Group have been compared most often to The Dirty Three due to their strongly melodic, emotive, violin-inflected sound.
