The Aquabats

The Aquabats are a musical ensemble from Huntington Beach, California formed in 1994 known for their humorous lyrics and outrageous live shows, during which the band is often attacked by supervillains onstage. Starting as a parody of the booming third-wave ska scene in Southern California (their first show, reportedly, was played with fourteen members, at least half of which were wielding horns), The Aquabats played third-wave ska with a surfy, b-movie-esque twist that set them apart from the sped-up two-tone/pop-punk mash-ups most bands of the time were playing.

Asa Broomhall

Australia's favorite Rock/Roots larrikin; Asa Broomhall has done it again with his latest self-produced album 'Revelry Road'. Recorded live over 5 days in the farmhouse where Asa grew up on the Sunshine Coast. It builds on Asa's previous work by seamlessly combining full band tracks and solo acoustic songs showing the true depth of his songwriting and musicianship. You may say it is a Rock and Roll Record with a hint of Folk but it has elements of Blues, Country and even a bit of Calypso?

Artist Type:

Sticky Fingers

The Sydney based four and sometimes 5 piece have just released their debut, the ironically titled mini-album Extended Play.
From the inner west the band is delivering a refreshing vibe to the Australian music scene, they began when drummer Beaks and bass player Paddy, met busker Dylan, one night outside the Coopers Arms hotel in Newtown.

Dylan, fresh from N.Z. and not yet 18, was on the streets with his guitar busking for coin outside the pub. “We met him,” Paddy says, “when the Coopers Arms bouncer started hassling us to give the dude money".

Since then the band have spent their time re-fining and re-defining their sound, a mega-hectic, psychedelic, reggae that’ll have you trading your flat screen for a ticket to ride, surrendering your dignity to your urges, throwing shapes around rooms with people you’ve never met.

The Sticky sound is doused in textural, psyche-y and atmospheric melodies that push out the S.F. rhythm section’s blunt soundscapes.

In the past 14 months the Stickies have started touring, along the way playing Woodford, Playground Weekender and New Beginings Festivals and playing with Children Collide, Urthboy, Amy Meredith, Art Vs Science & Kingtide. Already highly rated by anyone that crosses their path, the band’s live show is on the up. Read more on Last.fm.
