The Tonalists

Melbourne soul blues outfit The Tonalists play a smooth bluesy, jazzy, funky collection of instrumental and vocal hits from the 60's, 70's and beyond.
Featuring Mick Coll on Hammond and pianos, Jason Kane on guitar and lap steel, Nigel Wright on drums and percussion, their sound is retro but with a modern twist, often 'sampling' the originals and looping over the patterns, overlaying 'tone on tone'.
Their setlist includes tunes by Lou Donaldson, Leon Russell, Gill Scott-Heron to name a few...

Line up:
Hammond, Pianos - Mick Coll (T'Hammer, Bigfoot, Long Black Limousine, Penthouse Paupers)

The Preatures

To compare Sydney newcomers The Preatures to any musical acts would be unfair. Not that they don’t have their influences (Think Patti Smith and Wolfman Jack with a dash of Fleetwood Mac) but their live show is more reminiscent of a religious cult. From the howling voodoo high priest Gideon Bensen to the Magdeline-esque passion of Isabella Manfredi, the voices in this band stir up a religious fervor that makes you want to drink the kool aid and wait for the spaceship.

Joe Bonamassa

Joe Bonamassa (born May 8, 1977) just wanted to earn enough money to buy a deluxe Nintendo game when he started playing the guitar professionally. Then he met blues legend B.B. King. At the age of 12, his mother got a call from a local promoter, Richard Thornton asking if he wanted to be the opening act at a concert at which King was the headliner. After hearing the gifted adolescent play, King was so impressed that he invited Bonamassa to tour over the summer with his band.

Geoff Achison

Now residing back in Australia, Geoff Achison has clearly earned a loyal US following since moving to Atlanta from Melbourne in 2007. Guitar Player Magazine readers voted Achison one of the “Top Ten Hottest New Guitarists” in the world in 2008. Having taught himself to play in the isolation of rural Australia, he has developed a blues/funk style all his own. Unaware of how the sounds he was hearing on his limited record collection were produced, he invented some of his own techniques - without the aid of pedals or gadgets.
