Mavis Staples

Mavis Staples (born July 11, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American rhythm and blues singer. Most of her career has been as lead singer for The Staple Singers. She first recorded solo for the Stax subsidiary Volt in 1969. Subsequent efforts included a Curtis Mayfield-produced soundtrack on Curtom, a nod to disco for Warner Bros. Records in 1979, a stab at electro-pop with Holland-Dozier-Holland in 1984, and a collaboration with Prince in the late 1980s and early 90s (producing the two solo albums Time Waits for No One in 1989 and The Voice in 1993, and various other collaborations).

Jessica Says

Jessica Says is 21 year old Melbourne singer-songwriter Jessica Venables, cellist and vocal harmoniser for the likes of New Buffalo, Jens Lekman, Sly Hats and Grand Salvo. Her debut solo album was released on cult label Unstable Ape Records / Remote Control on March 21, 2009. Recorded by Melbourne indie wunderkind Geoff O'Connor (Crayon Fields/Sly Hats), the album is built around Jessica's vocals, piano playing and her intricate string arrangements and features a vocal cameo by New Buffalo's Sally Seltmann.

Lykke Li

Li Lykke Timotej Zachrisson (born 18 March 1986 in Stockholm, Sweden), better known by her stage name Lykke Li, was raised by artistic parents (her mother was a photographer, her father is a musician). She lived in Portugal for five years and spent winters in Nepal and India. At one point, she worked as a dancer on Swedish TV. Li had her first success with the EP "Little Bit" in 2007. She later released her debut album, Youth Novels, on LL Recordings in the Nordic region on 30 January 2008, prior to a wider European release in June of the same year.

Lamb

Several bands have used the name Lamb over the years: 1. The most widely-known Lamb is a trip-hop duo formed in 1996 in Manchester, England, by Lou Rhodes (singer-songwriter) and Andy Barlow (production). Norah Jones, born on March 30th 1979 in New York City, is one of the most popular contemporary jazz and jazz-influenced singers of our time. She was a member of Wax Poetic before her debut album Come Away With Me. She can still be heard singing with them on two tracks of their release, Nublu Sessions.
