Widow The Sea

Formed in mid 2008, Widow The Sea have set themselves aside from a vast growing number of Australian metal bands by adopting a modern take on the Swedish death metal sound of fast melodic guitars, technical drumming and vicious vocals. Solidifying it's line-up in early 2009, Widow The Sea are continuing to break away from heavy music's generic clichés and breakdown saturated formulas, focusing on writing more relentless, aggressive death metal.

Neverborne

Combining melody and brutality, harmony and chaos, hope and despair, NEVERBORNE are rapidly bringing their own brand of adrenaline-soaked metal to the forefront of the underground scene. They effortlessly blend elements of Swedish melodeath outfits such as Nightrage and In Flames with the sounds of American giants like Unearth and Killswitch Engage, resulting in "powerful" music "that would sound at home coming straight out of Gothenburg" (Zero Tolerance magazine, July 09).

Traces

There are three different bands with the name Traces 1)Traces(Now Saturnian) are a Symphonic/Melodic Black Metal band from the UK, formed by guitarist Dave James, bassist Daniel Scrivener and his brother James Scrivener on keys, and were shortly joined by Sam Greenland on drums. Taking influence from such bands as Wintersun, Dimmu Borgir and Emperor, the success of their demo track Vivisection managed to secure them a deal with Siege Of Amida Records in 2007 only a few months after their formation.

Shadows Fall

Shadows Fall formed in 1996 in Springfield, Massachusetts and rose up as a prominent member of the bustling Massachusetts metal and hardcore scene that has recently produced bands such as Killswitch Engage, All That Remains, and Unearth. Guitar duo Jonathan Donais and Matt Bachand got together in '96 and had the original lineup complete within a year. These members were vocalist Philip Labonte, now with All That Remains, bass player Paul Romanko, and drummer David Germain.

Naberus are a four piece melodic death metal band from Melbourne Australia.
Heavily Influenced by thrash and groove metal they try to blend aggression with melody.
Finally Releasing "Ruins Of Society" in March 09, they are currently scanning the local scene for gigs.

Opeth

Opeth is a progressive metal band from Sweden that is influenced by many diverse musical styles ranging from jazz, 1970s progressive rock, death metal, and blues. Their recent releases have deviated from their traditional death metal influenced style, with more emphasis on progressive elements. Vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt is also noted for utilizing both clean singing and death growls, often in the same track.

As I Lay Dying

As I Lay Dying is an American metalcore band from San Diego, California. Founded in 2000 by Tim Lambesis and having completed their first Line-up in 2001, the band consists of vocalist Tim Lambesis, drummer Jordan Mancino, lead guitarist Nick Hipa, rhythm guitarist Phil Sgrosso, and bassist Josh Gilbert, all of whom are Christians. Signed to Metal Blade Records, As I Lay Dying has released four studio albums, one split album, and one compilation album.

Chaos Divine

There are two bands called Chaos Divine: 1. Hailing from Perth, Western Australia, Chaos Divine's signature is very much what the name suggests - a blaze of thick riffage with a brick wall-sized sound that at times spirals into hypnotic melodies. Drawing influences from the heavy, progressive and melodic elements of bands such as Opeth, Dream Theater and Soilwork, this quintet forges a unique blend of brutal polyrhythmic metal and ambient contemporary rock.

Soilwork

Soilwork is a swedish melodic death metal band formed in late 1995, originally under the name Inferior Breed in Helsingborg, Sweden. In 1996, they changed their name to Soilwork to better fit their new sound. Their unique sound is a fusion of the classic gothenburg metal sound with power-groove riffs of late 1970s, early 1980s British, and European metal, but in their most recent albums they have also introduced elements from American alternative metal and adopted a more melodic attitude.
