There are at least 3 bands called Backsliders. One is from Australia (see http://www.backsliders.com.au) and the other, from Finland, is described below. The third is an alternative country rock band from Raleigh, North Carolina. Finnish biker band Backsliders were Marko Asser Hirsma (vocals & bass), Dan "Danny" Peter Wilhelm Eklund (guitar), Antti Kalervo "Ana" Haglund (drums) and Olli Sakari Hilden (except on the first two albums where they were a trio) (guitar). On the latest album Marko Kainulainen (played with Andy McCoy and Boycott) replaced Antti Haglund who passed away.
Against Me! is a punk rock band originally from Naples, Florida, and later relocated to Gainesville, Florida. They are known for their heavily folk-influenced sound and energetic live shows (Spin named them one of the 25 greatest live bands in 2006). Their first full-length album, released on No Idea Records in 2002, was the highly-acclaimed Reinventing Axl Rose. In December 2005, they signed to Sire Records, and released their major label debut, New Wave, on July 10, 2007.
With irrepressible spirit and a devotion to celebration, Australian quartet Confidence Man specializes in campy, addictive dance anthems indebted to forebears like Deee-Lite and Tom Tom Club, as well as early-2000s alt-disco acts like Scissor Sisters, Fischerspooner, and CSS. Hailing from Melbourne, the Brisbane-based group was formed by members of indie/psych-rock bands the Belligerents, Moses Gunn Collective, and Jungle Giants. Janet Planet and Sugar Bones handle the vocals, while the mysterious Reggie Goodchild (synths) and Clarence McGuffie (percussion) remain in the shadows, under veils that protect their identities. With a wink and a strut, Confidence Man made their debut in 2016 with the single "Boyfriend (Repeat)," which they modeled after Brigitte Bardot's "Contact." After signing with Heavenly Recordings in 2017, they issued additional singles "Bubblegum" and "Better Sit Down Boy," which all appeared on their 2018 debut full-length Confident Music for Confident People (Heavenly/PIAS). Manchester Orchestra is an indie rock band which formed in Atlanta, Georgia, United States in 2005. The group is currently composed of rhythm guitarist-singer-songwriter Andy Hull, lead guitarist Robert McDowell, keyboardist and percussionist Chris Freeman, bassist Jonathan Corley and drummer Tim Very. Former drummer Jeremiah Edmond parted ways with the band in January 2010 to focus on his family as well as running the band's record label, Favorite Gentlemen.
The Brian Jonestown Massacre was formed in San Francisco in 1990. The band has had over 40 members since then, but its driving force and main songwriter is Anton Newcombe. Other prominent members have included Matt Hollywood, Dean Taylor, Jeff Davies, Brian Glaze, and Joel Gion. Their sound is heavily influenced by the psychedelic sounds of the 1960s, but also carries influences from shoegaze, jangle pop, garage rock, and lo-fi sonorities.
Skillet is a rock band formed in Memphis, Tennessee in 1996. The project follows Skillet's 2004 Lava/Atlantic debut, Collide, which launched the group into the public eye with the single "Savior" (the #2 most added at CMJ's "Loud Rock and Crucial Spins" panel the first week out), and garnered the quartet a prestigious Grammy Award nomination. Eddie Vedder (born Edward Louis Seversen III on 23 December 1964) is the lead singer and lyricist for the band Pearl Jam. He has also been involved in other music outside of Pearl Jam, and released his first solo album, a soundtrack to the movie 'Into the Wild' in September 2007.
In the 1980s Vedder sang with several Southern California rock bands, most notably Bad Radio, but rose to fame only after moving to Seattle in 1990 and joining Pearl Jam.
Electro-dance-slide_didg-slide guitar-flute-drums. I just heard these guys live at the Newtown Festival, Sydney, for the first time ever this weekend. They came down from the sunshine coast - north of Brisbane, where the tropical heat has obviously had a good influence on them. Sometimes dreamy and slow, sometimes upfront crowdpleasing pumpers - these guys rock! With four studio albums, OKA shows a wide variety in their music. Absolutely mind blowing. OKA is also a pop group from Finland.
