Ape BC are an alternative rock band based out of Sydney, Australia. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Faith No More, The Mars Volta, Björk and Glassjaw, the band's simple focus is to write music that is considered both innovative and accessible. What has become of Heartbreak Club (HBC)? Once a straight-up parody of angst-ridden pop, HBC are rapidly becoming Australia's beacon of hope for Geek Rock; spearheading a new wave of 1990's inspired intelligent, ironic and self-deprecating punk-infused tunes. In doing so, HBC have recorded a new, darker and grittier album that is 'unapologetically melodic; adopting a brutally honest, confessional and grungier tone' than previous efforts, with the band noting their admiration for Weezer, Regurgitator, Blink 182 and Nirvana. They are still geeks, however.
Michael Paynter (born 1986 in Melbourne, Australia) is a singer-songwriter and musician. He will release his debut album in early 2010, entitled This Welcome Diversion. He has released two singles from the album, "Closer" and "A Victim Song". To promote his album, Paynter supported Vanessa Amorosi on her national tour throughout July 2008, and served as the main support act for Shannon Noll on his National tour at the end of 2008.
You Me At Six are a 5-piece pop/pop punk band from Weybridge, Surrey who formed in 2005. The five piece played locally until early 2007 when spring support slots with Saosin at Leeds Cockpit (03.05.07) and later Paramore at the Colchester Arts Centre (10.06.07) saw them attract media attention from the likes of Kerrang, Musicscoop and NME. In July 2007 they supported Tonight Is Goodbye on their summer tour along with Death Can Dance and then later that month were featured in Kerrang! magazine in their new music section.
The story of Eric Weideman and his ex–band 1927 is one of the most intriguing in recent Australian pop history. In 1988, the group was a truly local phenomenon, selling more than 350,000 copies of their debut album "...ish".
Drawn inexorably into the vortex of mass success, 1927 swiftly lost control, playing out a familiar rock tune: the group's second album, The Other Side, failed to match the sales of its predecessor and 1927 gradually slipped from view even as it began to buckle under the strain of touring.

Ash Wednesday is an Australian musician, who played in Jab, The Models and Einstürzende Neubauten. Wednesday formed an Australian punk rock band in Adelaide in January 1976. The band's original lineup consisted of Bohdan X (Bodhan Kubiakowski) on guitar and vocals, Wednesday playing bass guitar, synthesizer and tapes, and Johnny Crash (Janis Friedenfelds) on drums and vocals. The band took its name from the first initials of the founding members. The band relocated to Melbourne in August 1977.
It was November 2005, when Orianthi stepped off a plane from Japan where she had been performing for PRS Guitars. She received a call that one of her all-time idols, Carlos Santana had spoken about her during an interview on Australian television earlier that morning. She had to hop on another waiting plane to her hometown, Adelaide before she could see the footage. It was the longest two hour flight.
Vintage Trouble, based in Los Angeles, is the brainchild of Ty Taylor (vocal) and Nalle Colt (guitar). Combining their love for original soul and rhythm & blues, the two set up a basic home studio in Venice Beach and started crafting the beginnings of Vintage Trouble. Already a friend of both, Rick Barrio Dill (bass) came along and added his shared bass influences and energy into the newly formed project.
A Mexican guitar was the catalyst for the formation of Intercooler in 2001. Had it been made in the US, perhaps the story would read a little differently. Jaded by the ‘struggling artist’ cliché, Joel Potter (bass) hung up his instrument and pissed off to the UK, perhaps resigned to the fact that running around in circles for the sake of music wasn’t worth it. Meanwhile, back in Oz, vocalist and guitarist Phil Ballantyne was getting restless.
