Lykke Li

Li Lykke Timotej Zachrisson (born 18 March 1986 in Stockholm, Sweden), better known by her stage name Lykke Li, was raised by artistic parents (her mother was a photographer, her father is a musician). She lived in Portugal for five years and spent winters in Nepal and India. At one point, she worked as a dancer on Swedish TV. Li had her first success with the EP "Little Bit" in 2007. She later released her debut album, Youth Novels, on LL Recordings in the Nordic region on 30 January 2008, prior to a wider European release in June of the same year.

The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart is an indie pop band which formed in 2007 in New York City. They consist of Kip Berman (vocals, guitar), Peggy Wang (vocals, keyboards), Alex Naidus (bass) and Kurt Feldman (drums). Feldman also plays guitar and sings in The Ice Choir.

Girls

There are at least three bands called Girls. 1) In 2006, Christopher Owens and Liza Thorn began a music project called Curls, which dissolved itself when Liza decided to focus more on her new band, BRIDEZ. Not to be dissuaded, Christopher recruited San Francisco's infamous ladykiller Chet "JR" White to join him and changed the band's name to Girls. Chris was formerly a member of Holy Shit with Ariel Pink.

Chairlift

Chairlift is an electropop band which formed in 2005 in Boulder, Colorado, United States. The band consists of Caroline Polachek (vocals, keyboards), Aaron Pfenning (guitar, synths, vocals) and Patrick Wimberly (bass, drums). The Crayon Fields

Raised on the classic, guitar-ringing psychedelia of the '60s (the Zombies, the Byrds) with a lo-fi indie rock approach not unlike that of the Elephant 6 collective, Melbourne, Australia group the Crayon Fields formed in 2002 before the members graduated high school. In the following few years, the band - vocalist/guitarist Geoffrey O'Connor, bassist Brett Hudson, guitarist Chris Hung and drummer Neil Erenstrom -supported the likes of the Unicorns, New Pornographers, Stereolab, Cornelius, Dirty Three, Electrelane, Deerhoof and Architecture in Helsinki in concert.

Built to Spill

Built to Spill is an indie rock band based in Boise, Idaho, United States. The band is best known for its catchy guitar hooks and the unique voice of frontman Doug Martsch. Former Treepeople frontman Doug Martsch formed Built to Spill in 1992 with Brett Netson and Ralf Youtz as the band's original members. In an interview with Spin magazine, Martsch stated that he intended to change the band's lineup for every album, with Martsch being the only permanent member.

tailor made for a small room

Tailor Made for a Small Room are a Tokyo-based duo who specialize in lo-fi electronica, not dissimilar in style to the likes of Lullatone and 4 Bonjour's Parties. It comes as no surprise, then, to learn that one half of TMFASR also belongs to 4 Bon, while the other half is the singer for Lost in Found, winners of Japanzine's Gaijin Sounds 2008 competition. Both members are Japanese, though much of their work is sung in English.
