Paul Heslin was raised in the capital city of Australia in a dark well of hyper-christian homeschooling, before peeling the layers off and beginning to grapple with the world of electronic sound. In 2008, after completing a university degree in digital sound and composition, he vanished overseas to England and France for an extensive period of musical development, returning to Australia in late 2010 with a spiky melange of facial hair and the transformative rubbernecker ep.
Louisiana-bred, Brooklyn-based recording artist Julianna Barwick crafts ethereal, largely wordless soundscapes, all of which are built around multiple loops and layers of her angelic voice. Barwick, who credits a rural, church choir upbringing for her unique sound, begins most tracks with a single phrase or refrain, then uses a loop station and the occasional piano or percussive instrument to build the song into a swirling mass of lush, ambient folk.
Fabulous Diamonds are Melbourne duo, Nisa Venerosa and Jarrod Zlatic. Nisa plays drums and sings, Jarrod plays sax, electric organ, keys, and synthesizer through time-lag accumulators to make their unique avant-garde music humbly disguised as pop minimalism. Truly experimental, defiant of glib categorization, advanced and yet totally stoned-sounding.

sleepyhead is an electronica project by seventeen year old Haley EIizabeth Mills. Hailing from Pleasanton, Texas, her music is very enlightening and joyous, while her lyrics are slightly mature and very metaphoric. She’s done a couple contemporary covers, and has a good amount of her own original songs. Definitely young talent at it’s best.
