Church of Misery

Church of Misery is a japanese doom metal band with a specific extra-groovy sound that is often described as "stoner doom" but the band tends to snub this term saying "We hate trend. We hate corporate attitude. We hate the word 'stoner'. Death to false stoners!! Let there be DOOM!!" (citation from the Master of Brutality album cover artwork notes).
Band was formed in 1996 in Tokyo by bassist Tatsu Mikami (ex-Salem) and guitarist Tomohiro Nishimura, line-up was completed with singer Nobukazu Chow and drummer Hideki Shimizu.

Pod People

Pod People is an Australian doom metal band from Canberra. Their sound combines doom/stoner metal with death metal vocals. They have released three EPs, one album and one 7". Pod People have opened for the likes of doom masters Electric Wizard and Cathedral. The band recorded a new album over the later half of 2007 and early 08 and are looking to release their next album "Mons Animae Mortuorum" (Mountain of the Souls of the Dead) through Goatsound in Australia in August 2008 and hopefully Rise Above internationally.

Thrones

Thrones is the solo project of bassist Joe Preston from Portland, Oregon, United States. Thrones began in 1994 with an untitled cassette on the Punk in My Vitamins? label. They soon released the Reddleman single. In 1996, Thrones signed to Communion Records to issue the full-length album Alraune. Thrones then signed to Kill Rock Stars and released the single The Suckling. In late 1997, Preston began a recording project under the working title White Rabbit, White Rabbit, White Rabbit. The project was eventually released as two 12 inch EPs; White Rabbit in 1999, followed by Sperm Whale in 2000.

Mournful Congregation

Mournful Congregation is a band from Adelaide, Australia, founded in 1993, that plays very slow doom metal, with some funeral doom and death/doom influences.
The music revolves around melodies on electric and/or acoustic guitar and is further characterised by minimal drums, deep growled and whispered vocals. Main lyrical themes are personal spirituality, mysticism and depression/doom.
In 2009, the band performed live for the first time in their 15 year existence, with 4 Australian shows, and another 17 shows throughout Europe to promote their 2009 release The June Frost.

Rituals of the Oak are a traditional doom metal band from Sydney, Australia, formed in 2009 by previous members of Transcending Mortality and Lycanthia. They released their first recording, a 2-track demo CD-R on April 24, 2009, and their first full-length album, "Hour of Judgement" via Eyes Like Snow records, on November 27, 2009. Current Line-up:

There is more than one artist with this name. 1) Doom metal band from Coventry, England. The group was formed in 1989 by Lee Dorrian (formerly vocalist of Napalm Death), Mark 'Griff' Griffiths (a Carcass roadie) and Gary 'Gaz' Jennings (previously a member of UK thrashers Acid Reign. The band forged a link between early doom metal and a 1990s extreme metal aesthetic, making doom slower and heavier.

Ghostly is an extreme drone/industrial metal project led by Deaemae. The project is drum machine driven band that relies on repetative guitar riffs or droning noise with usually deep death metal-style grunts to high pitch black metal screeches. The project has a primitive sound that Deaemae purposely tries achieving to create a "dark atmosphere." Initially, the project started off as a project that would play pure death metal with doom metal touches. Eventually, the project took a change incorporating more industrial tones to the music than actual death metal.

Sunn O))) is an American drone metal/experimental band based in New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA and formed in 1998. The band’s core members consist of Stephen O’Malley (Khanate, Burning Witch, SARIN, Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine, Lotus Eaters, Ginnungagap, Thorr’s Hammer, Fungal Hex, KTL, Æthenor, Gravetemple) and Greg Anderson (Goatsnake, Thorr’s Hammer, Burning Witch, Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine, Brotherhood, Engine Kid, False Liberty, Burial Chamber Trio, Ascend). The band was formed as a tribute of sorts to Earth, another very heavy band noted as the pioneers of drone metal.
