The Album Leaf officially began in 1998 as the solo project of Jimmy LaValle, guitarist for San Diego, California-based post-rock band Tristeza. LaValle has also performed in several other San Diego-area bands, including Swing Kids, The Locust, GoGoGo Airheart, and The Black Heart Procession. An Orchestrated Rise to Fall Jimmy LaValle had been playing guitar in the post-rock instrumental band Tristeza.

The Gadflys began in the 1980s as a three-piece punk band founded by brothers Mick and Phil Moriarty. Normally, ‘punk’ means distorted guitars and loud drums playing as fast as possible. For The Gadflys, it meant a double bass, guitar and clarinet playing an eclectic mix of pop, rock, country and ballads. The trio made its mark first as distinctive buskers, then as a popular pub band. Over the years The Gadflys have grown from the basic trio to a big band with horns, keyboards and backing vocalists.

Ennio Morricone (born 10 November 1928 in Rome) is an Italian composer especially noted for his film scores. He has composed the scores of more than 500 films and TV series. Although only 30 of these are for Western films, it is for this work which he is best known. Morricone's sparse style of composition for the genre is particularly exemplified by the soundtracks of the classic spaghetti westerns The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Sergio Leone, 1966) and Once Upon A Time In The West (Sergio Leone, 1968).

After he parted ways with Mr. Big in 1996, Paul pursued his career as a solo guitarist and has evolved into a successful solo artist/singer/songwriter. Binge & Purge is the union of personality and noted DJ Tommie Sunshine and producer Mark Verbos. The two started working together in 1998 in Chicago. Their 2001 debut as Binge & Purge was a doublepack, released on Switzerland's Mental Groove, called "Wait, It's Fantastic." Highly regarded by the press and the big DJs at the time, it sold small numbers. Their only other release, "Take Your Drion Pill," was a collection of left overs and re-edits from the same sessions.
