The Matador

Since their inception, The Matador have continued to cast themselves apart from the Australian mainstream of heavy music by pushing the boundaries of sound experimentation. Their progressive and dark undertoned layers of music range from down tempo, complex soundscape arrangements to epic, driving walls of earth crushingly heavy guitars, drums and vocals. With an imminent EP release on the way, expect to see The Matador continue to push these boundaries.

Grails

Grails is an American <a href="http://www.last.fm/tag/instrumental" class="bbcode_tag" rel="tag">instrumental</a> rock band from Portland, Oregon. Initially going by the name "Laurel Canyon", guitarist Alex Hall, drummer Emil Amos (also of 'Holy Sons') and second guitarist Paul Spitz garnered positive reactions following their first show, played on a whim. Portland musicians Timothy Horner (violin) and Bill Slater (piano/bass) later joined the group to record their first EP.

Explosions In The Sky

Explosions In The Sky is an American instrumental post-rock band, which formed in Austin, Texas in 1999. Munaf Rayani, Mark Smith, and Michael James had just moved to Austin from Midland, Texas, and drummer Chris Hrasky had just moved to Austin from Rockford, Illinois. The band quickly gained a reputation for their live shows even amongst other established local bands such as Lift to Experience. This Is Your Captain Speaking

This Is Your Captain Speaking are a post-rock instrumental group from Victoria, Australia. The debut album from 'This Is Your Captain Speaking' Storyboard was released independently in Australia in May 2005. Clocking in at just under 66 minutes, the album's seven tracks were recorded live in a primary school library. The first pressing of Storyboard has sold out, but the album is being re-issued on UK label Resonant.

Silent Sound

New age group Silent Sound debuted in 2002 on the Boulder, CO-based Spring Hill label with Nightfall. The album features Butch Baldassari, David Hoffner, and Jim Hoke playing an array of instruments over the course of the album: everything from mandolin and mandola to woodwinds and strings. This trio performs compositions by a variety of songwriters, including Spring Hill recording artist Michael Hoppé.

Aidan Baker

Aidan Baker (born 1974) is a musician and writer currently based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Classically trained in flute, he is self-taught on guitar, drums, and various other instruments. A regular performer in and around Toronto, he has also performed in New York, Montreal, Chicago, San Francisco, and such festivals as The Om Festival, Mutek, SXSW, and The Distillery Jazz Festival.
