Blues Arcadia

Blues Arcadia combines the legendary soul of Stax and Motown with the heat and power of the Chicago and Memphis blues to create a unique dirty-soul sound delivered with swagger, style and sensitivity.

Three-time Australian Blues Music Award winners and Australian Roots Music Award nominees, the song-writing partnership of vocalist Alan Boyle and guitarist Chris Harvey is completed by collaborators and partners-in-crime Jeremy Klysz (bass), Paula Girvan (keys) and Casper Hall (drums). Their 2019 album Carnival Of Fools captures the sound of the band swinging from the rafters and shaking the foundations of blues and soul music - exactly as they perform live, with raw emotion and absolute conviction. Reviews include 4.5 stars from The Australian Weekend Review, 5 stars from the Sunday Mail, a #5 debut on the AIR Independent Charts and a #1 debut on the Australian Blues and Roots Airplay Charts.

Performing at venues and festivals along the east coast of Australia, Blues Arcadia have forged a national reputation by injecting fresh new energy into 21st century rhythm and blues while channelling the passion and urgency of the old-school soul revival shows.

Nobody in this band is just along for the ride. These are five strong individual personalities working together to create something uniquely exciting. It’s almost impossible to choose which of them to watch and engage with during a show, where each player directs their energy into the most important thing – the Song, making it the best it can be. That is the power of Blues Arcadia.

The Dead Amigos

Formed in early 2016 from a most unlikely late night encounter, The Dead Amigos have been unrelenting in spreading their unique blend of bluesy stoner rock with underlays of psychedelic and funk across the Melbourne and St Kilda music scenes.

The Vineyard, Prince of Wales, the Espy, Cherry bar, Revolver, Evelyn hotel, Brunswick hotel and the Tote are among the many iconic venues the boys have frequently graced in their short time together. On top of this, the St Kilda rockers ‘Lets Get Twisted’ tour brought the new gospel of their sound to rocking places such as Frankies Pizza in Sydney and the Bearded Lady in Queensland.

Now preparing to unleash their debut album with producer Tyson Fish (The Living End, Dropkick Murphys, Bad//Dreems), The Dead Amigos are showing no signs of slowing down as they continue to bring a unique blend of St Kilda rock n roll to the masses.

Rod Paine & The Fulltime Lovers

Out front on vocals and harmonica, the charismatic Rod Paine is a stylish showman with one of the most soulful and inspiring voices in this land. Charming audiences for over 30 years, he has walked the stages throughout the country delivering a sound somewhere between Muscle Shoals and mid-sixties electric Blues. Add the broken-up harp sound emanating from his little 40-year-old amp, and he is hard to draw a comparison with.

Ray Tully and Tony Harwood form a dynamic rhythm section that is the backbone of the act. Performing together for over 34 years, this tight unit has graced various line-ups such as The Sensational Rocket 88’s, The Redliners, The Detonators and Straight 8’s to name just a few. In 2014, the Fulltime Lovers welcomed the extraordinary Co Tipping to take over guitar duties, wielding the Fender Stratocaster in a way very few can. This important inclusion signalled a shift in the band’s sound and an extension of its broad appeal.

The recent addition of Michael Shannon on Hammond organ has added colour and depth to the repertoire, where his incredible musical knowledge shows through. In 2013, Rod Paine & The Fulltime Lovers won the prestigious MBAS Blues Performer of the Year Award. They subsequently represented the MBAS in 2014 at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis USA, where they competed with the world’s best to impress an international audience.

The Futuras Hammond

Scorchin' old school Hammond Organ instro rhythm & blues, baby!

You’d think that with all the technological and scientific advances made over the last century, someone would’ve invented a time machine by now.
But since they haven’t, The Futuras Hammond Band are the next best thing. Take a trip back to an era when skirts were tight, suits were sharp, wigs were big and no party was complete without a swingin’ Hammond B3 soundtrack. An era where Booker T. Jones and Georgie Fame reigned supreme, and music was all about finding your groove and rolling with it. Instrumental and downright sensational, this Hammond driven blues quartet will get you go-going faster than you can say These boots were made for dancin’, Daddy-o.
While the immortal Memphis sound clearly informs The Futuras’ repertoire, this band ain’t no one-trick pony. Expect scorching nods to artists as diverse as Packy Axton and Jimi Hendrix, The Small Faces and Albert King – all delivered in the band’s inimitably hip style. Like the man said, you don’t need a singer to have soul, baby.
So hit the dance floor or simply close your eyes and pretend it’s 1964 again: either way, The Futuras Hammond Band have got their mojo workin’ and they’re gonna work it on you.
