LongBoys

In the midst of the hustle and bustle of suburbia we find a group of layabouts. In their natural habitat music is created that the local council will refer to as a "noise violation". They soldier on. LongBoys, comprising of five members, Sam Craine (vocals/guitar), Sam Power (vocals/guitar/keys), Ayrton Ganas (guitar), Jack Hetherington (bass) and John Gore (drums), are sweeping the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Taking inspiration from different genres and acts such as Mac Demarco and The Doors, the band collaborates to create all of their songs. From this, they are able to bring in different kinds of genre aspects to their music and create some smooth surf sounds. Beginning in 2017 they have morphed in multiple forms, from the maturing of their musical sound seen in their first EP “Scenes” to their most recent “Clockwork” which came out in March 2020; to selling out shows across Melbourne and interstate at venues such as Rad Bar, Yah Yah’s and even backyard-festivals. The Omnific

Melbourne’s breathtaking progressive instrumental trio The Omnific will be returning to the touring circuit after 2 years for the highly anticipated Escapades Australian Tour; performing tracks from their 2021 acclaimed debut album Escapades for the first time nationally, plus a selection of deep cuts from their lauded back catalogue trio of EP releases.

Bassist Matt Fack comments, “Escapades has been a multi-year project for us, an album we worked on through the entirety of lockdown, and to now be able to perform what was created is a surreal feeling. Being our debut album, the experiences from past releases and gigs have been infused into what we regard as our best work to date. We can’t wait to celebrate this album with you all in person.”

Escapades is the group’s most refined and artistic work yet, landing #3 on AIR’s Australian Independent Album Chart. Utilising the unique line-up of two bass players and a drummer, The Omnific created an extraordinary mosaic that dances between progressive rock, djent, funk, and synth-driven soundscapes. The record also features Clay Gober of Polyphia as guest bassist on the single Antecedent, which received a colossal reception internationally.

With the young virtuosic band impressively clocking in just under 8 million Spotify streams and 3.5 million YouTube views to date, and following supports of Twelve Foot Ninja, Between The Buried & Me, COG, Intervals, and Ne Obliviscaris; The Omnific will be taking their pulsating performances to new heights for their first worldwide headline dates in support of Escapades.

The Omnific will be joined by Sydney’s progressive metal quintet, Intrøspect (excluding Brisbane). The band’s unique flavour of progressive metal blends heavy riffs, post-rock, djent and ambient influences, reflecting the spiritual extremes of the human experience through sonic treatment.

Matt Walker

Matt Walker (Lost Ragas, Fat Rubber Band) is one of the most respected musicians on the Australian scene. His work as a songwriter, producer, session guitarist and composer is credited on dozens of albums, films and documentary scores, and among his peers down under he enjoys the status of a true cult legend.

He has toured with people such as Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Dirty Three, Nick Cave, Tony Joe White, Cat Power, The Black Keys and Joe Cocker. Matt has also written, recorded and performed with many outstanding artists, including Mick Harvey (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds), Rob Hirst and Jim Mogine (both from Midnight Oil), Kim Salmon (The Scientists) and Ashley Davies (Mighty Servant). He is currently a fulltime guitarist for The Band of Gold, fronted by Tex Perkins (Cruel Sea, Beasts of Bourbon).

Matt will be launching his first instrumental acoustic album at George Lane on Saturday, 30th of July.. Some say it's long overdue, but the wait is over. United States Of Alpho is a somewhat mystical place where one finds a home, and peace if they are lucky, while on their own search to belong….and the MUSIC is drawn from diverse musings…

Matt says - 'Freed from performance and repertoire demands, I was able deeply explore the composition of instrumental works. I drew on diverse influences ranging from Albert Ayler to Bill Evans. From Haitian-American guitarist and composer Frantz Casseus to Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou, the piano player from Ethiopia. Her stuff blew my mind...anyway I unearthed a new sound and intent in my own guitar playing, while also maintaining the modus operandi to record the compositions live. This involved playing a specific electric guitar (a 1960 Kay) accompanied by double bassist Ben Franz. Additionally, I always imagined the recording location for the album to be Alpho because it is there that I found part of myself'.
