Tempa

Tom Fisher aka Tempa has been quietly building himself a reputation as the one of the most exciting new producers in the east of England. He broke onto the UK Hip-Hop scene in 2004 as a guest producer on the debut LP by Suffolk hopefuls Vinyl Dialect (Bad Magic). Also Tempa is a grime MC from Birmingham, working with artist such as Dapz, Trilla and the Stay Fresh camp, features frequently on Donttourthat.

Prefuse 73

Prefuse 73 (Guillermo Scott Herren), is a <a href="http://www.last.fm/tag/hip-hop" class="bbcode_tag" rel="tag">hip-hop</a> and <a href="http://www.last.fm/tag/electronic" class="bbcode_tag" rel="tag">electronic</a> producer/artist, currently based out of Barcelona and signed to <a href="http://www.last.fm/label/Warp" class="bbcode_label">Warp</a> Records. Herren releases his music under various aliases, most notably Prefuse 73, <a href="http://www.last.fm/music/+noredirect/Delarosa+and+Asora" class="bbcode_artist">Delarosa and Asora</a>, <a href="http://www.last.fm/music/Piano+Overlord" class="bbcode_artist">Piano Overlord</a> and <a href="http://www.last.fm/music/Ahmad+Szabo" class="bbcode_artist">Ahmad Szabo</a>. He also performs with Eva Puyuelo Muns in a duo known as <a href="http://www.last.fm/music/Savath+&+Savalas" class="bbcode_artist">Savath & Savalas</a>. He began his career DJing at MJQ, a small night club in Atlanta, and then began working in commercial studios but soon branched out into his own music.

Syntax

At least three artists share the name Syntax: 1) "Syntax" are a London based electronic duo formed by MIKE TOURNIER and Jan Burton in 2002. Mike Tornier is well known for his work as a 'groove technician' with 90s electronica setup "Fluke". Jan Burton (vocals), influenced by bands like "The Doors" and "Pink Floyd", calls himself 'Mr Five Piece Band and Guitars.' The first single "Pray" (2002) made top 30, was a dancefloor smasher and was leading them to a contract with the Illustrious label.

RJD2

RJD2 is Ramble John Krohn, a hip-hop producer. RJD2 was born in Eugene, Oregon, and raised in Columbus, Ohio. Until recently, he was part of the Definitive Jux label and produced tracks for many of its artists, as well as having a solo career. In 2006, RJ "ditched hip-hop" for the indie-rock label XL, releasing The Third Hand in March 2007. From 1998 to 1999, he saw success blossom as DJ/producer for the Columbus-based group the Megahertz, with two twelve-inch singles on Bobbito Garcia's legendary NY label, Fondle 'Em Records.

DJ Shadow

Considered a prominent figure in the development of instrumental hip-hop, DJ Shadow (real name Josh Davis) has proven himself with groundbreaking, genre-defining solo output on such respected labels as Solesides and Mo' Wax. Although Shadow's earlier works, especially 'Endtroducing.....', are known for their innovation in genres such as hip-hop, ambient, and trip-hop, his latest album, The Outsider, had several tracks dedicated to Hyphy.

Bomb The Bass

Bomb the Bass (formed 1987, in London, England) is the umbrella title for the output of British musician and producer, Tim Simenon. The band, which has evolved its style over the years, has been classed as electronic or dance. As a name, Bomb the Bass came from Simenon's approach to collaging and mixing sounds whilst DJing in the mid to late 1980s; he says "samples were either scratched in live or sampled and looped on top of the rhythm section.

Cut Chemist

Cut Chemist is the performing name of Lucas MacFadden, a solo turntablist. He is a former member of the funk Latin band Ozomatli, and of the underground rap group Jurassic 5. He became known through the Los Angeles-based rap group Unity Committee, and debuted on vinyl on the B-Side of Unity Committee's 1993 single, Unified Rebelution. The track, "Lesson 4: The Radio" was an ovation of Double Dee and Steinski's seminal hip-hop masterpieces, "Lessons 1-3."

DJ Vadim

DJ Vadim (aka Vadim Peare, real name Andrey Gurov) is a prolific DJ from Russia, based in London. His music combines hip hop and electronica and his recording technique involves very precise sampling as opposed to looping. He signed to Ninja Tune in 1992, and founded his own independent record label, Jazz Fudge in 1995. Aside from DJ-ing, he has worked in numerous roles including A&R, promoter, and radio presenter on the BBC's "Around The World In Eight Relays".

Nitin Sawhney

Nitin Sawhney (raised in Rochester, Kent, England) is a london-based composer and dj of various styles of music, including jazz, drum and bass, hip-hop, flamenco and modern orchestral compositions. His major works include Beyond Skin, Prophesy, Human, and Philtre. He is considered one of the pioneers of what is known as the Asian Underground music scene, defining a music genre that mixes south-asian musical influences with western electronica and breakbeat style. He does however dislike the tag of "world" music, describing it as musical apartheid.
