The Iron Maidens

The Iron Maidens are an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, formed in 2001[2] as an all-female tribute act to English heavy metal band Iron Maiden.[3] The band currently consists of drummer Linda McDonald, bassist Wanda Ortiz, lead vocalist Kirsten Rosenberg and guitarists Courtney Cox and Nikki Stringfield.

The Iron Maidens were originally formed in June 2001 by lead vocalist Jenny Warren and bassist Melanie Sisneros, formerly of the Iron Maiden tribute band Wrathchild.[4] drummer Linda McDonald and guitarist Josephine Draven, both formerly of Phantom Blue, and guitarist Sara Marsh, joined Warren and Sisneros shortly afterward to form the band's first lineup.[5][6] Sisneros left the band in 2002 to pursue other interests and was replaced by Wanda Ortiz.

In 2003, the band started work on their debut album. The project was delayed when Warren gave notice of her departure from the band to focus more on her personal and child's needs.[7] After Warren's departure, new vocalist Aja Kim made her debut in the band and helped complete the album (World's Only Female Tribute to Iron Maiden), which was released in June 2005.[8]

After the album's release, Draven left the band. In February 2007, Heather Baker joined to replace Draven. In May, the band released its second album Route 666, which features a guest appearance by Motörhead guitarist Phil Campbell.[9]

In summer 2008, Heather Baker and Aja Kim left the band to pursue solo careers.[10] The two were replaced by guitarist Courtney Cox and vocalist Kirsten Rosenberg (formerly of the Maryland-based cover band HighWire).[11] In January 2010, Marsh, who was ill, was taken off some of the Japanese tour shows and did not rejoin the band.[12] Baker rejoined the band to temporarily fill in Marsh's spot for a handful of shows.[12]

In August 2010, The Iron Maidens released a DVD of their Japan tour titled Metal Gathering Tour Live in Japan 2010.[13][14]

Upon Marsh's departure from the band, former members Elizabeth Schall and Heather Baker would return briefly to fill in the vacant Murray position (2009–2010). For tours 2010–2014, the role of Dave Murray would be shared between artists Nili Brosh, Nita Strauss, and Nikki Stringfield. In 2014,the band approached Nikki Stringfield to become a permanent member in the Murray position.

Nita Strauss (Ibanez), Courtney Cox (Caparison) and Nikki Stringfield (Schecter) are the first female artists to have their own signature guitar with their associated guitar companies.

In June 2014, Nita Strauss was hired to replace Orianthi as Alice Cooper's touring guitarist for the remaining 2014 tour dates. She has toured with Alice Cooper since that time.[15]

On September 8, 2015, the group announced that long-time guest guitarist Nikki Stringfield had been officially added as a permanent member of the band.[16]

Rosenberg and Stringfield appeared as contestants on the August 3, 2017, episode of the music game show Beat Shazam.

Wind Rose

We are a heavy metal band born in Italy in 2009 and we are currently signed to Napalm Records. Our lyrics and style are mainly inspired to the dwarves of fantasy like in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, this is the reason why people refers about us as "the Dwarves of Heavy Metal" and to our style as "Dwarf Metal". We gained notoriety in 2019 with the release of the single Diggy Diggy Hole, a song originally sung by The Yogscast and inspired to the famous videogame Minecraft.

Boris + Kiyoharu

In the ever-expanding universe of sonic exploration, two iconic forces are set to converge in a symphony of innovation and power. Japanese heavy rock pioneers Boris, celebrating an astounding three decades of groundbreaking sound, join forces with J-Rock legend Kiyoharu for the unmissable “Heavy Rock Breakfast” tour, a post-pandemic celebration that promises to redefine the rock experience.

Already announced for the Golden Plains Festival, Boris, known for their relentless pursuit of sonic excellence of heavy rock, returns to Australian shores in 2024. The 4-piece Boris lineup, featuring the dynamic duo Takeshi and Wata, along with the incomparable Atsuo now reclaiming his original front-man role and a support drummer Osamu, promises an electrifying showcase of their evolution and musical prowess. Adding to the anticipation, Boris will headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne, make a triumphant return to Brisbane’s ?hm festival, and mark their first appearances in Adelaide and Perth since 2015.

“Social distance was asked in a Pandemic. Passion of rock was blocked in a social life. Rock is the culture to be handed down to the world once again. The ‘Heavy Rock Breakfast’ show will be to deliver full of our passion for rock straight into the audience.” – Boris

Joining Boris at the breakfast table is none other than J-Rock luminary Kiyoharu, making his inaugural voyage to Australia with a 4-piece band. Kiyoharu, a legend in his own right, has left an indelible mark on Japan’s music landscape with his unique blend of hard-rock and traditional sounds. Having achieved monumental success with Kuroyume and Sads, Kiyoharu ** is set to captivate Australian audiences with his charismatic stage presence and unparalleled musical legacy.

“In the world’s eyes, Japan’s rock history remains largely uncharted territory. It’s understandable, amidst the continuous emergence of brilliant music worldwide, there might not be a compelling need to delve into the history of a small Asian nation. However, Japanese music is now starting to exert its influence on the world to some extent. The opportunity to uncover the truth and the deeper layers of Japan’s rock history, deserving of proper recognition, is coming your way. Boris resonates its sound on the foundation of global rock, and, of course, the inheritance of Japanese rock. In this tour, we aim to integrate the history of rock worldwide, alongside the charismatic figure of Japanese rock, Kiyoharu. This tour carries such significance. From this ground, let’s grind, repaint, and update. Stay tuned.”– Atsuo / Boris

Boris, often hailed as game-changers in experimental heavy rock, brings their innovative spirit to Australian shores. Their latest release, “Heavy Rocks” (August 2022, Relapse Records), showcases their ability to channel 70s proto-metal vibes into something entirely new and groundbreaking.

Don’t miss the chance to witness the collision of sonic titans Boris and Kiyoharu as they serve up a feast of heavy rock like never before.

Damaged

he band was formed by drummer Matt "Skitz" Sanders. Mat Silcock and Chris Hill were the two original guitarists, with bass player Jason Parker and singer James Ludbrook.

The band's first demo, The Art of Destroying Life, appeared in 1992; the next year they released their first album, Do Not Spit, on Black Hole Records.[1] In 1994 Damaged toured with Cannibal Corpse. Silcock left Damaged in 1996, and around the same time, due to a dispute with label Black Hole Records, Damaged disbanded. Hill joined Melbourne band Discordia; Sanders toured Europe as drummer with Sadistik Exekution and played in Abramelin.

The split only lasted a short time, since the band was approached by US label Rotten Records and offered a five-album deal. Reforming without Silcock, Damaged released Token Remedies Research in 1997[2] and finished the year with a performance at the Metal for the Brain festival.[when?] Early the following year, the band toured Australia with Entombed but the reunion was almost cut short when Ludbrook was fired in the middle of a tour a few months later. Brendan Birge from the Melbourne death metal band Earth joined Damaged as Ludbrook's replacement after a brief stint by Chris Wallace, but found the constant tensions within the group difficult and resigned in mid-1999. Parker also left and Damaged continued only as a recording project, with Sanders and Hill providing a track for the all-Australian double heavy metal CD Under the Southern Cross.

Late in 1999, former Brutal Truth singer Kevin Sharp joined Damaged. In 2000 the album Purified in Pain was released,[3] featuring bass contributions by Terry Vainoras of Melbourne death metal band Order of Chaos. With Eddy Lacey of Melbourne thrash band The Wolves filling in as the group's bass player, Damaged embarked on a national tour in December. Sharp's relationship with the band ended after this and Damaged went into hiatus for some time. Hill remained active as a member of a band called Running With Scissors and Sanders recorded an album entitled Lords of Eternity with his black metal band, now named Hellspawn.

With Parker returning to the line-up and ex-Uncle Chunk singer Dave Saddington on vocals, Damaged began playing live again in mid-2003. A short national tour was followed by supporting Sepultura's national tour; Damaged ended the year by headlining Metal for the Brain.

Damaged played its final performances in January 2004. Citing a serious health condition, Sanders was unable to continue. In March 2004 Hill confirmed that Damaged had ended playing live with Sanders, but may continue recording in the future.

Shortly after ending Damaged, Sanders joined a new hardcore band called Walk the Earth that featured Ludbrook and Superheist guitarist DW Norton. After an EP and a short spate of tours that included shows with Slipknot and Mudvayne, Ludbrook left and the band folded in mid-2005. The singer quickly announced plans to reform Damaged with Sanders; however, in early 2006 the pair announced their new band would instead be called Terrorust. Terrorust has since released a full-length album, Post Mortal Archives.

Ocean Sleeper

Pummeling drums, mammoth riffs, guttural screams, and anthemic choruses are the norm for Rural Victoria-based Australian metalcore outfit Ocean Sleeper. Blasting onto the underground scene in 2016 with the release of Breaking Free, the group cemented their position as one of Australia's finest homegrown talents with the release of 2019's long-player Don't Leave Me This Way.

Hailing from the rural Gippsland region in southeastern Australia, the group -- Karl Spiessl (vocals), Ionei Heckenberg (guitars/vocals), Stan Liagourdis (guitar), and Jarred Robson (drums) -- came together in 2016 and quickly made a mark with their debut, Breaking Free. Within six months of the release, the band were booked to play the alternative festival Unify in 2017, dropping their debut EP, Six Feet Down, at the same time. With the group's impressive display of brutal but anthemic metal winning over fans, the band headed out on a national sold-out tour before also playing support slots with the likes of Stray from the Path and Deez Nuts. By 2018, the group had headed out to Portland, Oregon to start recording their debut album with Kris Crummett (Sleeping with Sirens, Dance Gavin Dance). Before its release, Ocean Sleeper hit the road on a national tour with Dream on Dreamer and the Getaway Plan, as well as playing their first overseas show, headlining the Heartown Rockfest in Taiwan. The debut album, Don't Leave Me This Way, followed at the end of 2019, preceded by the singles "Killing Me" and "Light in My Dark."
