Blondshell

Sabrina Mae Teitelbaum, better known as Blondshell, is an American indie rock musician based in Los Angeles, California. Following an early pop-leaning career under the name BAUM, Teitelbaum debuted Blondshell in June 2022 with the single "Olympus". She has toured with acts including Suki Waterhouse, Horsegirl, and Porridge Radio and has performed at South by Southwest, Austin City Limits Music Festival, and on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Her self-titled debut album was released on April 7, 2023 via Partisan Records, receiving positive reviews.

DARTZ (NZ)

Dartz! (often stylized as DARTZ!) were a Math rock group from Middlesbrough, England, who formed at the beginning of 2005. They are signed to Xtra Mile Recordings in the UK and Deep Elm in the US, and released one full-length album, one mini-album, three singles and a split 7-inch via Xtra Mile, as well as an EP on Sunderland based DIY micro-label Fakedream Records, and a split 10-inch with Scottish band Stapleton on Gravity DIP.

They recorded with the record producer Mark Williams (Biffy Clyro, Bloc Party, Fightstar, Nine Black Alps, Million Dead, Ghymp) at the Battery Studios in London and they toured with Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Hot Club De Paris and The Rumble Strips, as well as also playing with bands including The Futureheads, Melt Banana, The Young Knives, Make Believe and Foals. More recently Dartz added long-time collaborator Nico Taylor, once the logistics man for the band, to the line-up.

In September 2007, the band announced that they were going to take a break from touring to focus on their education, with Maughan studying English Literature at Oxford University and Anderson studying English and Film at Sheffield Hallam.[citation needed] The decision was explained in an article in The Times newspaper entitled "Bands Balancing Uni With Fame", although it was criticised by the NME in the magazine's review of "The Sad History Of The Village Of Alnerique" in September 2008.[citation needed] Dartz have had three videos featured on MTV2, all of which were directed by Teesside University lecturer Marcus T. Diamond. A fourth video, for the track "Cold Holidays", was recorded by Wife Swap cameraman Rob Taylor during the band's tour with I Was A Cub Scout.[citation needed]

They broke up on 2 July 2009 according to their MySpace page. Their final live outing was at The Peel, Kingston. Support came from former touring partner Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.

Husky

Husky are an indie folk band from Melbourne, Australia. They have opened for Neil Young, Devendra Banhart, Gotye, The Shins.

In 2007, the band recorded and mixed an album at Sing Sing Recording Studios in Melbourne, with all songs written and produced by Husky Gawenda. The album was released in 2008 under the title Quiet Little Rage. In 2011 and prior to release of Forever So Gawenda said "Unfortunately that record didn't get a proper release. We didn't have a label, didn't have any money, didn't know what we were doing. We did everything ourselves, even publicity. It never really got heard [so] to call that our first album would be inaccurate; it's more like a demo, even though we put a lot of work into it."

In March 2011, Husky uploaded "History's Door" onto Triple J Unearthed, which gained attain. Gideon Preiss said "Things started to escalate after Unearthed; we had been doing everything ourselves for a while, but we couldn't be across everything any more; there was too much happening. That's a great problem to have" and the band signed manager, Bonnie Dalton, who looks after record label Liberation.

The band's official debut singles were "Dark Sea" and "History's Door" in August 2011.[5][6] In October 2011 Husky released Forever So, which was recorded in Gawenda's backyard. The album debuted at number 33 on the ARIA Charts.

Beat Magazine said "Husky's official debut album Forever So is intimate, affecting and richly textured. Drummer Luke Collins and bassist Evan Tweedie provide deft touches to these carefully-crafted songs, while Californian producer Noah Georgeson captures Husky's aesthetic superbly by working closely with Gawenda and Preiss in the mixing of the album."

At the J Awards of 2011, Husky were nominated for Unearthed Artist of the Year at the J Awards of 2011.

In February 2012 Husky became the first Australian band to be signed to Sub Pop records, who released Forever So internationally. Husky Gawenda appeared on RocKwiz on 14 July 2012.

At the ARIA Music Awards of 2012, Forever So was nominated for an ARIA Award.

On 25 March 2013, Husky Gawenda won the bi-annual Professional Development Award at the APRA Awards (Australia).

Hot Glue

Melbourne indie-rock band Hot Glue is made up of siblings Lily and Pearl Harnath, with Henry Lucas on drums. Hot Glue pulses with punchy beats, high energy guitars and soaring melodic harmonies. Their songs speak to the experiences of young adulthood, using music and sound to voice frustrations and release.

Hot Glue released their debut EP ‘The City’ in 2018 after Lily finished high school, and as Pearl was about to enter Year 12, leading to an explosive debut on the Melbourne music scene. Citing influences including Phoebe Bridgers, Julia Jacklin and Big Thief, the band have played alongside a myriad of local acts including Body Type, Bad Bangs, and Jess Ribeiro.

Matt Maltese (UK)

Matthew Jonathan Gordon Maltese (born 6 October 1997) is a British-Canadian singer-songwriter. His style blends elements from indie pop, indie rock, and chamber pop. Since releasing his debut single "Even If It's a Lie" in 2015, Maltese has released four studio albums, and four EPs. In July 2021, Maltese announced his third studio album, Good Morning It's Now Tomorrow; the album was released in October 2021 via Nettwerk, the label he is currently signed with. Maltese released his fourth studio album, Driving Just to Drive in April 2023.

Maltese released his first single, "Even If It's a Lie", on SoundCloud in 2015. After the release of the single, Maltese signed with Café Bleu Recordings, a subdivision of Atlantic Records. In 2016, through Café Bleu Recordings, Maltese released his follow up EP, titled In a New Bed. The following year in 2017 Maltese released a single titled "As the World Caves In" which as he shared in an interview, is about the idea of then-UK Prime Minister Theresa May and then-U.S. President Donald Trump, deciding to spend a night of romance together before triggering atomic warfare. The single saw a resurgence on TikTok starting in May 2021 following a cover by singer Sarah Cothran. In January 2023, it was certified Silver in the UK by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) for selling 200,000 equivalent units.

Polish Club

Polish Club are an Australian garage rock duo from Sydney, New South Wales formed in 2014. The band consists of vocalist and guitarist David Novak and drummer John-Henry Pajak. As of 2023, they have released four studio albums. At the APRA Music Awards of 2024, they won the award for Most Performed Rock Work.

2014–2015: Formation and debut EPs
Vocalist and guitarist David Novak and drummer John-Henry Pajak started the band in 2014. Originally a four-piece, they decided to go their own way, telling SBS News in 2017, "We halved the numbers and booked a room for three hours, and we had five or six songs." The duo's name refers to both members having Polish descent.

Polish club uploaded the songs "Able" and "Show You Love" onto Triple J Unearthed on 5 January 2015, followed by "Did Somebody Tell Me", on 2 February 2015. Nick Hartman from Happy Mag reviewed all three, saying, "'Able' is probably the best of their three songs so far."

The duo released their self-titled debut EP in October 2015, with Hartman saying, "Polish Club by Polish Club is overall an effort [they] can be proud of, with Novak and JH displaying a high minimum standard."

Lord Huron

Lord Huron is an indie rock and folk band from Los Angeles, California. Led by singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Ben Schneider, the band has released two full-length albums, two EPs and a handful of singles since 2012.
