WIRE’s 1977 debut album, Pink Flag, cemented them into the burgeoning UK punk scene.
Their obscure lyrical themes, unorthodox structure and minimal sound influenced musicians across the globe, including some of hardcore punk’s godfathers, Ian MacKaye and Steve Albini. They also went on to inspire everyone from REM and Guided By Voices to Fischerspooner and way beyond.
