The Wilbury Legends
starring lindsay field, sam see & glyn mason
In the late 80s the fresh, fun sound of The Traveling Wilburys came bursting out of our radios. Their instant, world-wide success was no fluke and no surprise, as this mysterious band of ‘unknowns’ was in fact a supergroup formed by some of the world’s most-beloved musicians. Instigated by George Harrison and Jeff Lynne and joined by Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Roy Orbison, The Traveling Wilburys left their deep mark on pop music history.
Though The Wilburys never played live, their debut album won the 1990 Grammy for Best Rock Performance. Now, THE WILBURY LEGENDS show is coming to the MEMO and traces the careers of these five superstars who united almost by accident to remind the world of the roots of rock ’n’ roll. The show features Wilburys’ songs and many hits by its illustrious individual members.
THE WILBURY LEGENDS show’s music director Sam See, joined by Lindsay Field & Glyn Mason — his compadres from Field See & Mason — have put together a stellar band of top Australian musicians, including drummer Angus Burchall, keyboardist Adrian Scott and bassist Paul Cartwright.
Members of the band have worked with John Farnham, Air Supply, The Seekers, Olivia Newton-John, Sherbet, Ariel, Brian Cadd, Glenn Shorrock, Jimmy Barnes and Black Sorrows.
