Lloyd Langford

Langford was born in Baglan, Neath Port Talbot.[3] He studied film and television at the University of Warwick; he chose this because film interested him, he wanted to live somewhere new and did not want to lock himself into a vocation so early on.[5] He was regularly MC at Warwick Comedy's weekly Sunday night stand-up show.

Langford was a regular panellist on Ask Rhod Gilbert and has written additional material for TV shows Live at the Apollo, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and The King is Dead. He has provided audience warm-up on QI[6] and been a contributor on Rhod Gilbert's Work Experience. Langford has appeared as a guest on several comedy and panel shows, including Russell Howard's Good News, The News Quiz, The Now Show, 8 Out of 10 Cats, QI and The Dog Ate My Homework, Have You Been Paying Attention (TV2 New Zealand), and has written for other shows.[7]

In August 2010, Langford made the move to television when the BBC commissioned eight episodes of Ask Rhod Gilbert, following a successful pilot earlier in 2010. The show featured Rhod Gilbert, Greg Davies and Langford answering random trivia questions, such as 'Who would win in a race, Usain Bolt or a grizzly bear?', posed by the public and celebrities, with additional celebrity guests on the panel.[8] The show ran for two series.[9]

Langford had been a guest comedian on The Jon Richardson Show. He co-hosted the radio show Rhod Gilbert's Bulging Barrel of Laughs and played Rhod Gilbert's brother on pilot sitcom Rhod Gilbert's Leaving Llanbobl. He occasionally co-hosts Gilbert's weekly show on BBC Radio Wales. Langford has appeared several times on the BBC Radio comedy panel show The Unbelievable Truth and is a co-writer and performer on the BBC Radio Wales sketch show Here Be Dragons;[10] the show won the 2014 Sony Award - Bronze for Best Comedy.[11] He has written jokes for Gilbert, Frankie Boyle and Simon Amstell.[12]

Langford occasionally tours as part of comedy collective GIT with Dan Atkinson and Jon Richardson;[13] his first solo tour was titled Rare Bit, a reference to his Welsh heritage. He has performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe multiple times.[3]

In October 2012, along with 463 other players, Langford took part in BBC Radio 5 Live's attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the 'most players in a continuous 5 a side exhibition match'. This was for BBC Children in Need, along with former footballer and TV pundit Robbie Savage and BBC Radio 5 Live travel reporter Lindsey Chapman.[14][15]

In the early months of 2019, Langford toured his most recent Edinburgh show, Why the Long Face?, in Australia and New Zealand.

Hobba & Hing

No you don't need to go get your ears checked or be woken up from some fever dream, our beloved Drive hosts Lewis Hobba & Michael Hing have announced they will be leaving triple j next month.

We're not crying, you're crying. But also we are crying. A lot.

Hobba & Hing have been an integral part of triple j since their very first show together in 2020. They've unleashed an unrivalled blend of entertainment and madness, and their uncanny ability to connect with audiences around the country has earned them a legion of devoted fans who tune in every afternoon to be part of the Hobba & Hing-Corporated experience.

From sharing the best new music to side-splitting banter and a bunch of heartwarming tales, Hobba & Hing have produced some spectacular content together on our airwaves.

There's their radio segment-turned-hit podcast Simply the Jest, the time they designed triple j's first-ever mascot, Dr. Um, or when they rummaged through Hing's horrific teenage diaries, created the world's first festival-scented candle, auditioned for Magic Mike, and searched for the country's weirdest contest on Australia's Best Competition Competition.

They've been at the forefront of the station's broadcasts for triple j's Hottest 100, the very first triple j Takeover, and Splendour In The Grass, to name just a few.

"Hosting the Drive show has been my dream job since I was 12 and listening to triple j on the bus home," Hobba says.

"Spending my afternoons with millions of friends for the past eight years has been a huge privilege. It's brought me more joy than you can imagine (although sometimes you are super disgusting, you know who you are).

"Thank you to everyone who got involved in our silly show; I have zero doubt that the wildest stories in the world come from Hobba and Hing listeners. It's hard to leave the best job in the country, and I'm going to miss it so much. But it's the right time to hand the keys over to someone else who will be as excited as I was when I got this job."

Michael Hing could not be contacted for comment, but a representative for Mr Hing said, "My client had no idea that 'embezzling company funds' was a serious crime and- oh, this is about them leaving? No, sorry, yes, he's loved working at triple j and loved working with Lucas Hobbes? Hobba? Yes, Lewis Hobba, that's what I said. No, I'm pretty sure I said Lewis Hobba."

A note we found on Mr Hing's desk reads: "If anyone is trying to chase me down for money I owe them, good luck. I'm free like the bird".

It is unclear if he realises he is contracted until mid-August.

While their departure marks the end of an era, triple j is giving the guys a huge send-off with Hobba & Hing's Last Show Ever* (the live farewell tour).

Saying au revoir and a big thanks to you, the triple j audience, one last time, Hobba & Hing's victory lap will hit venues across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Bendigo and Newcastle this August and September.

They'll be joined by special guests you know and love from triple j Drive as they relive some of their greatest moments and say goodbye. Tickets are on-sale at midday on 17 July from the tour website, so ham it up in your group chat and get along to see these two out in style.

They may be leaving triple j, but this isn't the end of the road for Hobba & Hing at the ABC. They've got a new comedy podcast called Silver Bullet which you can listen to right now on the ABC listen app.

The new project sees Hobba & Hing try all the gadgets, hobbies, experiences, and wellness trends their celeb guests swear by to find the one silver bullet that solves all their problems. Brace yourself for their upcoming escapades and prepare to laugh your way through season one.

The first three episodes featuring Abbie Chatfield, Chris Parker and Grace Tame are live now, so dive on in.

"I'm so lucky that Hing and I got to have so much fun together, particularly in some very tough years," Lewis Hobba says.

"You spend more time with a radio partner than anyone else; it's a very unusual relationship. Luckily, Hing's a very unusual guy. I'm looking forward to delving deeper into his brain on our new podcast. There are secrets in there — dark secrets."

As Hobba & Hing move on to pursue other projects, we extend a huge thank you and wish them all the very best.

Stay connected with them and give them a firm but friendly handshake over on their officially unofficial Instagram.

Who will be taking over triple j Drive next month? Stay tuned to find out!

Check out all the important dates and details of Hobba & Hing's farewell tour below.

Ty Gray

Ty quit his full-time role as a teacher to make comedy 'happen'. Now, after returning home after midnight from gigs each night, he has to turn up to a new school each day and face a new group of kids ready to tear him down every chance they get.

After starting comedy in Melbourne, Ty moved to Darwin in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic to escape lockdown. There, he made an immediate impression on the Darwin comedy scene, hosting and headlining gigs around town and touring his debut solo show Those Who Can't Do to Adelaide Fringe Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Darwin Fringe Festival and Perth FRINGE WORLD, all while juggling his role as a full-time teacher. Now, he's moving teaching to the side and putting comedy to the front, but to support himself he still has to be a Relief Teacher.

Sam Campbell

Sam Campbell is an Australian stand-up comedian and actor. He has won The Barry award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and the main prize at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival.
From Queensland, Campbell both performs stand-up comedy live as well as creating comedy web shows. He made a short series that was broadcast on Comedy Central Australia and guested on ABC TV’s The Checkout. In 2015 Campbell won best newcomer award then in 2018 the most outstanding show award, “The Barry”, at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Campbell was the winner of the main prize at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards at the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe Festival with his show simply entitled Comedy Show.[3] It was praised for its originality, surrealism and unexpected jokes by the judges. The show was also well received by The Times who described “a nutball, but he controls his loopiness with deceptive precision” and also said that the show was “exhausting, exhilarating and a touch of genius”. Brian Logan in The Guardian said “Campbell’s imagination produces wonderfully adhesive images.. there is now and then a core of robust observational comedy beneath Campbell’s loopiness.. None of it has anything to do with anything: it’s the incongruity, taken to uncommon lengths, that’s funny.”[6] Logan had previously commented on how Campbell had an “impish and idiosyncratic brand of comedy” and is “a maverick, not a crowd-pleaser; for a long time, indeed, he seemed wilfully to alienate his audience.” Logan highlighted the fact that Campbell’s award-winning show was only performed after midnight and only in the second half of the Edinburgh Fringe which displays an attitude which “signals nonmainstream”. The Daily Telegraph review mentioned “one-liners and absurdist whorls of madcap” delivered “with a casual, just-passing-the-time insouciance” that means the “amusement motors along so quickly, with such handbrake-turns of tone and for-the-hell-of-it bouts of recircling emphasis, it attains a runaway uncontrollable hilarity.”

In February 2023 Campbell was nominated at the UK National Comedy Awards in the best stand-up category for his show Comedy Show.

I left Venezuelan after I was carjacked at gunpoint (true story!). Thank you

I am also a trained cook, food technologist and brewer. I’m a loud and proud
food nerd. When I’m not performing, I’m probably making my own chorizo at home,
or experimenting switching Vegemite for Miso paste. Don’t tell anybody this,
but I was making bread at home before Covid. During the pandemic I hosted “About

bring my kitchen to yours, via Zoom.
