Darebin Songwriters Guild

Darebin Songwriters Guild was established for songwriters in the City of Darebin [Melbourne] to meet, collaborate and perform. All are welcome to events.

Darebin Songwriters' Guild was established by Moria Tyers and Wendy Ealey in 2006. The City of Darebin is located within the City of Melbourne Australia. Darebin has the highest number of resident songwriters and artists within Melbourne, and Australia. Moria and Wendy recognised a need to bring songwriters together within the local area, and created the 'Guild' to enable collaboration and support between songwriters.
The City of Darebin (Local Government) is a proud and major supporter of the 'Guild', and a songwriters music festival which is held in Northcote around September each year called The Darebin Music Feast. The festival is a celebration of the creativity of songwriters and musicians within the area and provides an avenue for expression and performance of original materials.
As part of the Darebin Music Feast The City of Darebin runs a songwriters competition. This competition bosts the largest amount of entries of any established songwriting competition in Australia. The Songwriting competition is open to residents of the City of Darebin, and or persons who work in, or live in the City of Darebin for a period of at least 10 hours per week.
