The Beatnik Preachers

“Jazz” is a term that has been used to describe almost a century of an ever-evolving style in music. The adoption of “Jazz” by many other cultures outside of its birthplace expands this even further. In Australia we have a unique perspective on the rest of the world due to the tyranny of distance. Still, very much like America, we have a dark history in the settlement by European powers.
the Beatnik Preachers have a blend of Jazz, Hip-Hop and Beat Poetry that is not only uniquely Australian from a musical perspective, but the subject matter of their original compositions tackle the sometimes difficult issues that face modern Australia as a nation. Commenting and reflecting upon Indigenous issues is not only for the Black community in this country. Having commentary from White Australians is of utmost importance.
