Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings

Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings are a funk/soul band. They are signed to Daptone Records, where the dap-kings are the house band. They are widely thought to be spearheads of a revivalist movement that aims to capture the essence of funk/soul music as it was at its height in the mid-1960s to mid-1970s. Part of the way this is achieved is to shun modern digital recording methods in favour of using traditional analogue recording equipment. The type of instruments used by the band may also be considered limited to those that would have been available up until the mid seventies.

The Chevelles

The Chevelles are still a great big POWER POP band with loads of guitar action and heaps of soaring harmonies. From day one the critics have raved and the kids of the confection generation have danced and screamed... from their hometown of Perth right across to Europe, USA and South America. In 1992 their debut Album “Kids Ain’t Hip” heralded the arrival of a new power pop force in Australia. With blistering guitars, soaring harmonies and a kick ass live show the band has blazed a significant musical trail over the last 14 years in many corners of the world.

Dan Parsons

At just 21, it’s somewhat surprising that Dan Parsons has already been on the scene for a couple of years. Having made his foray into the musical world with his heritage-flavoured debut release Old Brown Shoe in 2007, Parsons continued on this path for a short time. Then after gradually being absorbed by a new musical world of peers and influences he found a new desire to make a different type of music.
