System of a Down is an American alternative metal band, formed in 1994 from Los Angeles, California. All four members are of Armenian descent, and are widely known for their outspoken views expressed in many of their songs confronting the Armenian Genocide of 1915 by the Ottoman Empire and the ongoing War on Terror by the US government. The band consists of Serj Tankian (vocals), Daron Malakian (vocals, guitar), Shavo Odadjian (bass, vocals) and John Dolmayan (drums).

There have been two Australian bands named Ironhide. A new band from Brisbane, Australia. Spearheaded by two frantic vocalists, the band plays dissonant and chaotic, yet refined and catchy metal of varying forward-thinking influences such as The Red Chord, Converge, and Misery Signals. Here to have fun. Members and ex-members of The Surrogate, Ryu Vs Ken, Western Decay, Dandelion, Stabbedintheguts, The Vanguard Tic, Naked Burn and Cross The Lips Of Grace. Since this Savannah, Georgia, United States quintet first formed in early 2001, worrying about genre limitations has never been a priority. Taking musical chances, however, always has been. While Kylesa are as heavy as any band out there, they are beholden to no one scene and no preconceived notions of what heavy music should be. "Lots of people like to stick to one kind of music," guitarist/vocalist Philip Cope elaborates, "and even with the underground, lots of people segregate themselves into small little categories and place lots of imaginary rules on these scenes."

Avenged Sevenfold is a band from Huntington Beach, California, United States. They started out as a metalcore band, but have since moved towards hard rock. The band was formed in 1999. Avenged Sevenfold's first album, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, was recorded when the band members were eighteen years old. It was originally released on their first label, Good Life Recordings. After lead guitarist Synyster Gates (also known by Brian Haner Jr.) joined the band, the introductory track "To End The Rapture" was re-recorded with Gates playing, and the album was re-released on Hopeless Records.
