Tom Mundell aka Metrik has come a long way as one of the key names to look out for in drum & bass and for someone still relatively new to the scene, has already shown his versatility with the depth and range within his productions. In 2007 he released the anthemic soulful refrain of 'Your World' on Intrinsic Recordings which captured the attention of some of the scenes biggest names from Bad Company to Pendulum and Fresh to London Elektricity.
Whetu Kay aka Phetsta was introduced to the D & B sound during his final year of High School in 2000 after relocating from New Zealand to Perth, Australia. Tracks such as Ed Rush & Optical's "Locuste", BC's "Inside the Machine" and Konflict's releases on RenegadeHardware instantly appealed to him. The following year he started producing his own tracks and never looked back. After writing solo and DJ'ing around Perth, he joined forces with Ross Deschamp aka Rregula (former guitarist of WAMI Award winning band "The Dirty Whittler") to form Bad Robot in 2004.
From Gregs Myspace: Greg began Dj-ing in 1989 at the age of 17 shortly after emigrating to Perth Western Australia from Northampton England, he had been a heavy collector of vinyl since 1982 and since he already had a collection of 1000+ he decided it was time to purchase some decks and get seriously into dj-ing. B-complex aka Matúš Lenický is a producer hailing from Bratislava, Slovakia. His first musical attempts began in 1996, at the age of twelve. A passion and fascination of music led him through many genres. Beginning with Hardcore, Trance, Psytrance, progressing though to experimenting with down tempo and Hip-Hop. 2001 he discovered the album ‘Clockwork’ by ‘Stakka and Skynet.’ His journey with Drum and Bass music was born…
D-Bridge AKA Darren White's first introduction into the music scene was in 1992, when he formed 'Sewage Monsters' with his older brother (signed to MCA and Island Records as 'Steve Spacek'). After releasing one 12" on their own label, they disbanded; and Darren went on to work with 'Armshouse Crew' of 'We Are E' fame... this was to last for a further two years. In 1995 Darren met Jason Maldini through a mutual friend and was soon to be working alongside him at Trouble On Vinyl.
There are at least two artist with name Makoto: 1. Based in Tokyo, Makoto Shimizu, better known as simply Makoto, is Japan's chief Drum & Bass ambassador. After completing an Acoustic Engineering major at Nippon University, Makoto first signed with LTJ Bukem's legendary Good Looking Records back in 1999.
Since then he has gone from strength to strength, releasing a long string of quality music in the form of singles and EP's, but also on the famous 'Earth' and 'Progression Sessions' compilation albums.
Acquiring a love for the breakbeat through jazz and funk records, Break took to the drums at a young age, learning piano along the way and taking to the turntables at the age of fourteen. SEEKA is coming to get ya! And all of a sudden there’s SEEKA, the rock trio that warmed up Paradiso as a starter for N*E*R*D and Living Colour. This new indie/pop/rock band from Amsterdam consists of singer, guitar player and Alvin ‘Shad-O-Seeka’ Lewis, bass player Shanku Tuhusula and drummer Eddy Addai. Seeka provides a fresh mix, a melting pot of styles that provokes all kinds of creative inspirations and energies, but that turns out to be truly original every time. ‘We named it hip-rock: rock with past time dynamics and a hip-hop state of mind’, Alvin says.
Ben Settle, or better known as Ed Rush, is one of the current leaders of the new school drum and bass. One of the originators to bring back the dark sounds of drum and bass and push it to new levels, Ed Rush continues to make waves with each new release. Born in west London, Ed Rush originally started out as a b-boy (breakdancer), but eventually found the growing underground rave scene. Fascinated by the breaks in the hardcore sounds at the time, Ed Rush convinced his neighbor, Nico Sykes, to let him produce tracks with him.
