Australian Chamber Orchestra

The Australian Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1975 in Sydney. Every year, this ensemble presents performances of the highest standard to audiences around the world, including 10,000 subscribers across Australia. The ACO’s unique artistic style encompasses not only the masterworks of the classical repertoire, but innovative cross-artform projects and a vigorous commissioning program. The outstanding Australian musician Richard Tognetti was appointed as Artistic Director and Lead Violin in 1990.

Ludwig van Beethoven

Ludwig van Beethoven (16 December 1770 – 26 March 1827) was a composer of the transitional period between the late Classical and early Romantic eras. He was born in Bonn, modern day Germany.
Beethoven is widely regarded as one of the greatest masters of musical construction, sometimes sketching the architecture of a movement before he had decided upon the subject matter. He was one of the first composers to systematically and consistently use interlocking thematic devices, or “germ-motives”, to achieve unity between movements in long compositions.

Battles is an American experimental rock band that formed in New York City in 2002. The group is composed of drummer John Stanier (formerly of Tomahawk and Helmet), guitarist/keyboardist Ian Williams (formerly of Don Caballero and Storm & Stress), guitarist Dave Konopka (formerly of Lynx), and, until August 2010, guitarist/keyboardist/vocalist Tyondai Braxton (son of Avantgarde Jazz musician Anthony Braxton).

Brad Mehldau is an American jazz pianist born on August 23, 1970 in Jacksonville, Florida. He plays original compositions and jazz standards, as well as interpretations of non-jazz songs by The Beatles, Nick Drake, Radiohead and Soundgarden, for example. He has also contributed to movie soundtracks, including Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (1997), Eyes Wide Shut (1999), Space Cowboys (2000), The Million Dollar Hotel (2000).

Explosions In The Sky

Explosions In The Sky is an American instrumental post-rock band, which formed in Austin, Texas in 1999. Munaf Rayani, Mark Smith, and Michael James had just moved to Austin from Midland, Texas, and drummer Chris Hrasky had just moved to Austin from Rockford, Illinois. The band quickly gained a reputation for their live shows even amongst other established local bands such as Lift to Experience. Rock bands were replaced by indie noodling and angst ridden grunge burnouts who would never admit to loving rock moves or monster lickage. The fools. It was around this time Troy Scerri, Charlie O'Neill and Dave Tomley began to assemble a band with a desire to play the kind of music they listened to at home, but found it impossible to find on the live circuit. the untied knot

The Untied Knot consists of guitarist Nigel Bryant and percussionist Matt Donovan. Its music is a fusion of acoustic guitar filigrees, synthesizer and percussion, notably tablas and glockenspiel. The instrumental debut album “Sketches For A Lost Summer” was released in Summer 2009 to a warm reception including airplay from BBC 6 Music, WFMU in New York and Canal Extremadura in Spain.
